Our Safety Advisors work cooperatively with all levels of the organization to drive safe execution of projects, measure performance, manage events, engage our employees and foster effective communication, all with the goal of supporting PowerSecure's SAFETY FIRST value. The Safety Advisor applies health and safety experience and industry knowledge to assure our systems are effective at protecting our workers, is successful at engaging stakeholders at all levels of the organization to work cooperatively towards goals, excels at communicating with varied groups over a wide geographic area, and facilitates a field presence that ensures safety is an effective resource and champion for our teams.

The Safety Advisor applies health and safety experience as well as industry knowledge to assure our systems are effective at protecting our workers particularly in our manufacturing facilities. This role will include some of the following essential functions:

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for safety and health matters for assigned division

  • Coordinate application of Safety and Health Management System to assigned division

  • Engage Management and front-line employees in the development and implementation of safety efforts and projects

  • Conduct or Coordinate safety training activities for work force

  • Monitor, track and report safety performance to Division and Corporate Management

  • Manage incidents and events to prioritize worker safety, ensure proper care, and investigate to develop preventive or corrective actions to prevent recurrence

  • Support division activities to estimate, plan and execute work to ensure critical safeguards are employed

  • Develop procedures, work instructions and supplemental materials to ensure understanding of safe work measures

  • Effectively communicate safety information, responses to inquiries or requests, and other messages.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree or certification in occupational health and safety discipline preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience coordinating a health and safety program in a manufacturing, construction, or field service environment.

  • Experience in electrical installations, generator technology preferred.

  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record

  • Ability and willingness to travel for day trips to other NC sites as needed and approximately 5% overnight travel

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software programs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with Lockout / Tagout is a must

  • Fall protection training a plus!

  • Forklift operation / training a plus!

  • Overhead crane operation / training is preferred
