The Welder is responsible for operating welding equipment to assemble components. The job can involve operating robotic welding equipment, requiring the associate to load and unload parts from an alignment fixture. The associate will be cross trained and will rotate with others in the department on a regular basis to ensure coverage for vacation or other leave. The associate must be willing to work in other areas of the Weld and Metal Fabrication department when necessary to meet production demands.
The job requires a good understanding of how to set up and operate robotic and manual welding equipment, and to inspect parts for dimensional accuracy using measuring tools. Orders of large quantities are generally processed at the robotic welding workstations, where the associate will load and unload parts from a fixture. Orders of smaller quantities or more complex assemblies are assembled using manual welding methods, requiring the associate to follow drawings for layout and assembly. The Welder will operate pneumatic grinding hand tools to smooth and polish the surface after welding.
This position will learn all tasks of the Welding area including, but not limited to, setup & operation of robotic welders, setup for manual welding, dimensional inspection, hand grinding, and disposition of materials. The associate must be a team player, self-starter, safety conscious, have good communication skills. The individual must be quality conscious and concerned with customer's needs and on time delivery. A Welding associate may be required to work overtime and work in other areas of the business unit as dictated by their workload.
Qualified associate must have a minimum of 1-2 years welding experience
Associate must have a strong background in reading blueprints, measurement and inspection tools, and capable of completing their own setups.
Required to pass welding certification for manual and robotic operation prior to assignment of production responsibilities (within 90 days).
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Good communication skills
Must be able to stand for a shift length of 8 to 12 hours, while bending and lifting weights up to 50 pounds
Team oriented and self starter
Must possess basic computer skills
Safety and quality minded
Overtime will be required
