The HR Director is responsible for a wide range of functions including HR strategy, organization design and effectiveness, talent management/employee development, and organizational culture across our central departments. This role will also lead our shared talent acquisition team that provides sourcing support to our divisions. The HR Director will lead a team of 1 HR Generalist and the shared Talent Acquisition team (5) and report to the Group President of North America Sales and Marketing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Alignment :
Actively participates with business leadership in strategy development (long range plan, annual plan, etc.) and other operational planning for the central functional teams.
Identifies implications for organizational strategy along with recommendations to support longer term business growth.
Consults with the leadership teams to identify change management implications and leads change.
Talent Acquisition
Leads the shared talent acquisition team providing sourcing and selection resources, tools and training across the Appleton campus divisions.
Create a proactive workforce plan to support talent needs now and into the future.
Actively participates with business leadership to source, evaluate, select and on-board talent.
Drive outreach efforts and works to engage a diverse talent pool and ensure a diverse pool of candidates is presented for hiring consideration.
Talent Development:
Coaches business leaders and their teams on development to advance movement of talent both within each functional team and across other ITW businesses.
Drives and facilitates management team in talent planning, assessment and talent reviews.
Develops/administers employee performance management process and provide training and support in all components of performance management.
Culture :
In concert with leadership, builds and champions a positive culture grounded in ITW core values (Trust, Respect, Integrity, Shared Risk & Simplicity).
Models and promotes effective communication that is clear, timely and rooted in -What & Why-
Champions inclusion and diversity strategies and plans through employee engagement actions internally and externally.
Builds and drives employee engagement & inclusion through various programs and employee events.
Advises and coaches managers on resolving employee issues. Analyzes employment-related patterns and business needs to proactively develop and implement action plans to address pervasive issues. Balances legal exposure with desired business outcomes.
Organizational Design & Effectiveness :
Proactively identifies organizational needs and capabilities (talent assessment, team effectiveness, staffing). Collaboratively develops strategies for resolving and addressing needs.
Consults with and advises business leadership on organizational design that will enable the business to grow and operate effectively.
Works collaboratively to achieve business outcomes and improve organizational effectiveness; develops actionable HR strategies and tactical plans to support the achievement of divisional goals.
Compensation & Benefits :
Locally manages the exempt compensation program within the ITW/ITW Welding framework.
Ensures administration of all compensation and benefits programs are effectively communicated, issues are resolved timely, and programs are reviewed and updated regularly.
Collaborates with leadership on annual bonus programs and all other reward & recognition programs to include sales incentive plans.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in HR or a related field, and a minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience in leadership positions; MBA and/or HR certification preferred.
Experience in all facets of human resources including knowledge of staffing/recruiting, comp and benefits admin, employee relations, legal compliance, coaching and development
Experience in talent planning and management including talent assessment processes and succession planning
Strong demonstrated ability to lead and influence without authority
Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills; good listening skills; a team player who demonstrates the ability to relate to employees at all levels of the Company and who is sensitive to cultural differences.
Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information. Approachable, inspires trust and confidence.
Must be adept at collaborating with others to analyze facts and issues, identify options, and decide and and/or recommend a course of action. Must know when to compromise and when to be assertive.
Provides timely and sensitive customer service/feedback to all customers, internal and external
