Ferguson is currently seeking the right individual to fill an immediate need for a Route Planner.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 10am to 7pm
Responsibilities
As a Route Planner, you will:
Work efficiently and effectively to plan daily truckload shipments from the Ferguson distribution centers to branches and customers
Continuously offering opportunities for process and cost improvement
Work within various software applications to consolidate truckload shipments from the distribution center to branches and customers
Identify opportunities to reduce transportation costs through freight consolidation, back-haul or DSD schedule changes
Communicate transportation delays that result from system challenges, weather obstacles, etc to customers and the DC's
Support the Supply Chain Disaster Plan as documented in the event of a weather emergency that disrupts the transportation of goods
Review and evaluate operational procedures and update as appropriate in collaboration with management
Qualifications
A college degree is preferred for this position, but comparable industry knowledge and experience would also be considered
Goal oriented, self-motivated and able to meet deadlines, build relationships and enjoy a team atmosphere
Delivery driver or Route Planning experience required
Exemplary phone, interpersonal and written communication skills
Must be able to multitask using various media
Must be capable of creative problem solving
Work comfortably and effectively in a dynamic operational environment
Impeccable attention to detail
Must be able to practically apply lengthy procedures / instructions
Some working knowledge of MS Outlook and Excel
Functional ability with MS Word and Access
Ability to effectively prioritize daily activities
Ability to work independently, as well as with a cross-functional team
Adaptable and flexible to rapid change and the ambiguity that is created by change
