The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for leading & managing customer facing Quality. The position will provide engineering support with innovative solutions and strategies to ensure our products meet or exceed all technical, performance, and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Director of Quality Engineering, this position is a key member of the Hobart Brothers team and supports all divisions at Hobart Brothers, Tubular, Solid Wire, Stick Electrode, and Hobart Aluminum. The position is located in Troy, Ohio
Core Responsibilities / Description:
Plans and facilitates Agency Testing and Annual Testing for all filler metals. Supports Regulatory annual audits & registrations
Manage purchase product compliance testing
Plans and facilitates CE product type testing, CE labeling, & prolongation testing
Manages updates of Certificate of Conformance & Typical Data for data sheets
Manages Warranty/RGA program
Support quality team by leading risk assessment for product approvals and warranty
Support trending analysis of scrap [drive actions/reactions]
Manages Customer Complaint Program, customer requests and communication related to products & approvals.
Performs timely and thorough response to customer inquiries & complaints.
Assist with customer satisfaction metrics and product solutions
Supports Production with Quality Inspections
Support Quality team by performing engineering improvements in the process and daily operations using quality/statistical tools
Implement ITW Toolbox techniques in process and quality role
Travel to other Hobart facilities and customer sites as required
A minimum of a Bachelor's in engineering. Welding, metallurgical, or materials science engineering is a preferred.
Understanding of FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW is a plus
Working knowledge and experience with welding and filler metals specifications: AWS, ASME, ISO, and Military is preferred
Code experience with different agencies filler metals specifications: CWB, ABS, Lloyds, CE, BV, and DNV is a plus
Ability to lead, communicate, and influence effectively with multiple functional areas and levels
Team player and able to who can coordinate with cross functional teams: Engineering, Production, Lab technicians, Customer Service, Marketing, and Sales
Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of computer and web-based technology to support job tasks. Ability to work with statistical and other quality tools
Ability to drive changes as required
Ability to work in fast paced environment for customer support
Travel outside of Miami County - 25%
