Job Description

  • GENERAL SUMMARY

  • The Pharmacist - Resident follows established policies, procedures and regulations. Performs pharmaceutical care in accordance with the American Society of Healthcare Pharmacists. Reports to department leadership.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately dispenses medications to patients.

  • Provides drug information to other health care providers, and to patients/families.

  • Participates in inventory management and record keeping.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • Virginia Pharmacy License or be eligible for licensure within one month of hire.

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy.

  • Pharm. D. degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Must have interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and gain cooperation of hospital administration and staff, patients, their families and guests regarding drug therapy and other important aspects of pharmaceutical care.

  • Previous training on Analytical procedures to insure medication is prepared in accordance with professional standards and practices desired.

  • Previous training on critical thinking to determine when to consult and advise physicians and patients as to the use of medications and their possible side effects desired.

  • Previous experience using Microsoft office suite preferred.

  • WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
