Caterpillar must ensure market differentiating intellectual property is secured with an appropriately balanced and optimized security posture.

The person who fills this position will serve as Caterpillar's technical and process thought leader for ensuring optimized and appropriately balanced enterprise service offerings for the protection of High Value or Critical Assets. The incumbent will be charged with driving and overseeing assurance that Caterpillar's most valuable and strategically important intellectual property is protected as intended.

The incumbent will be responsible for working with leadership and technical IT and engineering staff to ensure all needed security architectures, frameworks, processes, and controls are rationalized and consistently implemented.

This role will lead a team of six other cybersecurity professionals and will be expected to work with leadership to develop any business case(s) needed to rationalize expanding budgets and staff as needed.

JOB DUTIES:

Primary responsibilities

  • Lead and drive efforts to determine the appropriate balance between an optimized security posture, operational efficiency, and user experience for Caterpillar's High Value Vault (HVV).

  • Oversee and drive all aspects of HVV operations - including improvements to the HVV service offering and security posture.

  • Work with business units to rationalize and improve the security posture of all Enterprise Procedure-governed information in which the Business Unit Senior VP has approved the information to not be protected by the HVV.

  • Oversee the operational efforts to ensure all high value computers have an optimized security posture. Regularly provide Cybersecurity briefings and presentations to Cybersecurity and Engineering leadership.

  • Oversee and drive enterprise strategy and support of Digital Rights Management and Information Rights Management solutions.

  • Oversee and drive enterprise strategy and support of Transparent Data Encryption solutions.

  • Oversee and drive enterprise strategy and support for secured mobile device solutions. Provide mentorship to junior staff members.

(Required) BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, an IT field, or actively pursuing a bachelor's degree.

  • 6+ years serving in various IT roles with increasing responsibilities.

  • Willingness to obtain CISSP certification along with other industry recognized cybersecurity certifications.

  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.

  • A high degree of initiative, accountability along with an ability to efficiently apply IT and cybersecurity solutions to solve business problems.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

  • Detail oriented and well organized.

  • A willingness to take ownership of problems and drive them to resolution in a timely manner.

  • Ability to efficiently describe technical configurations and architectures to non-technical staff and leadership in an easy-to-understand manner.

  • Ability to discern and prioritize enterprise interests against business and cybersecurity risk.

  • A respect for organizational change processes and communication.
