Applied MaterialsGlobal General Procurement (G2P) is a Global support organization that enables the purchasing of the indirect goods, services, and contingent workforce required for Applied Materials to operate smoothly and support our end customers. As G2P, we support stakeholders across the globe through Sourcing, Contracting, Category and Supplier Management, analytics, and transactional procurement. We influence spend across the following categories: IT Hardware, Software and Telecommunications, Consulting, Professional Services, Facilities, Real Estate, Equipment and Equipment Maintenance as well as Contingent Workforce.

As the Tactical Buying Leader for Global General Procurement (G2P) at Applied Materials, you will lead G2Ps Tactical Buying Office to deliver a seamless buying experience to our customers while reimagining how the team engages and creates value within G2P. Your core responsibility will be to:

  • Lead a team of buyers in delivering results, all with the aim of elevating procurement best practices and increasing overall organizational maturity of G2P.

  • Develop and actively manage third-party service providers to define and deliver an optimized buying model for G2P Collaborate, listen to, influence , and serve a broad network of senior stakeholders inside and outside of Indirect Procurement

  • Understand stakeholder requirements to prioritize and effectively communicate G2P scope

  • Be the face of Tactical Buying; build and uphold a reputation for Tactical Buying as a strategic value driver within G2P.

  • Bring industry best practices and new ideas to the team, implementing fit-for-purpose improvements.

  • Attract, retain, and develop the best talent. Maintain a strong, supportive team culture with a service mentality.

  • Build a future state operating model focused on value delivery and customer satisfaction

  • To be successful, your role will require you to quickly:

  • Lead a team of qualified buyers in delivering value to our internal stakeholders while defining the strategy and success of the tactical buying team

  • Collaborate and develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand the business requirements of our partners and align them to the Tactical Buying delivery model

  • Understand and identify improvements within the managed service provider model to drive successful partnership and deliver a seamless buying experience to our internal customers

  • Act as an intermediary between our business partners and the buying organization be a key driver of engagement and escalation to demonstrate excellence within G2P

  • Define measurements of success and KPIs to drive strategies within Tactical BuyingDevelop a transformation vision and roadmap for Tactical Buying to align goals, processes, and technology to best practices and the success of a broad group of stakeholders

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 15 years of experience in Indirect Procurement, with at least 5 years within sourcing or buying organizations

  • Experience working within a procurement managed service provider (MSP) or managing a procurement MSP relationship

  • The ability to be a good team player

  • Superior communication skills with the specific ability to translate and articulate broad or super technical concepts.

  • Strong executive presence and presentation skills.

  • Exceptional client and stakeholder management skills, consulting background preferred

  • Team leadership experience with a passion for developing, mentoring, supporting, and lifting up those around you. No micromanagers allowed.

  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing a strategy.

  • Ability to monitor and manage day-to-day operations while driving delivery of a long term strategic roadmap

  • Strong initiative and drive, ability to work independently and as well as drive collaboration and participation.

  • Ability to influence and lead broader groups of stakeholders.

  • The ability to prioritize and remain agile.

  • Tenacity and the ability to navigate complex global corporate environments.

  • Experience working with highly technical and analytical stakeholders and collaborators.

  • A history of getting things done in remote work environments.

  • A positive attitude and passion for our core mission of make possible.
