Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 12 months you will work toward completing?
As the VMware Cloud Infrastructure Architect, your primary focus is aimed at consulting with customers to develop the art of the possible with VMware Cloud which is the combination of VMware Cloud Foundation, the Software Defined Data Center infrastructure building block and Multi-Cloud Management with vRealize and Tanzu Mission Control. VMware Cloud Foundation has been adopted by VMware's most strategic customers for on-premise and hybrid-cloud solutions. VMware Cloud Foundation has also been adopted into offerings from VMware Managed Cloud Providers including hyper-scalers such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, IBM Cloud and Alibaba Cloud.
Engagements can include one or more of VMware's five key solution pillars (i.e. Hybrid and multi-cloud, networking, security, workspace, and modern apps). These solutions can be deployed across one or more cloud end points including VMware clouds, hyperscale public clouds, partner clouds, and on-premises / edge clouds. In essence, your objective is to increase consumption of VMware based cloud services leveraging VMware Cloud Foundation and to drive strategic product adoption and revenue in our fast-growing Commercial Tier 1 accounts.
In your role as Cloud Infrastructure Architect, you will provide practical advice and thought leadership around VMware Cloud Foundation and Multi-Cloud strategies. You will guide cross-functional initiatives in Commercial Tier 1 accounts, run cloud design workshops, and articulate the benefits of VMware Cloud adoption. What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Advise and Grow Strategic Commercial Tier 1 Accounts
Leverage your years of experience in data center operations, infrastructure architecture, and/or cloud architecture to provide pre-sales consultancy for both customers and cloud provider partners
Share expertise in cloud market trends, business opportunities, and delivering complex cloud provider solutions including multi-tenant cloud
Bring your experience in networking, containers, Kubernetes, and/or public cloud to accelerate development of customer and/or partner cloud strategies and execution plans in alignment with VMware's Multi-Cloud Strategy.
For customers, provide practical guidance on assessing cloud needs and gaps, developing a multi-cloud strategy, building a cloud center of excellence, working with partners, and helping IT transform into an internal service provider.
Demonstrate proficiency in modeling financial benefits including Return-on-Investment (ROI), Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and building a Compelling Business Case.
Self-enable on the latest cloud market trends and technology, including certifications
Closely collaborate with VMware's Cloud business units, product marketing, technical marketing and product management teams
Build strong working relationships with decision makers including executives, finance, portfolio managers, and technical teams

The Commercial Tier 1 business at VMware is fast growing and exciting resulting in a -start-up- like culture of high energy, empowerment, and innovation. Our teams are collaborative and work together toward mutual success by working closely with the account Solution Engineers and specialist teams across our Multi-Cloud portfolio supporting the East Coast Region sales territory. To help you be successful you will be mentored by other Cloud Infrastructure Architects and work closely with the VMware Multi-Cloud product business units and technical marketing teams.
Where is this role located?
This position will support our East Coast Region from Maine to Florida.
