What We're Looking For
The time is right to join HNTB! We are seeking an Engineer III - Roadway Design to join our Arlington, VA or surrounding offices.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Preparing designs and related documentation for transportation infrastructure projects.
Supporting diverse design activities focusing on highway geometry, maintenance of traffic, transit facilities, and parking facilities.
Direct interface and coordination with professionals working in related technical disciplines for the design of traffic appurtenances, drainage systems, bridges, tunnels, utilities, electrical systems, and tolling infrastructure.
Responsibility for completion of work products such as reports, designs, specifications, plans, and estimates.
Supporting Senior Engineers and Project Managers with input to schedules, estimates to complete work, and application of quality management protocols.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Working knowledge of Microstation, Geopak SS10 and/or ORD software
Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
Demonstrated ability to apply AASHTO and state DOT design guidelines, policies, and practices to address complex design challenges
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Detail-oriented team player with an ability to deliver high quality work and contribute to a positive work environment
Experience delivering transportation infrastructure design projects in Maryland, Virginia, or DC
Experience supporting design-build and/or P3 projects
Interest and complementary experience in drainage and/or utility design
Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software
Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Maryland, Virginia, or DC, or ability to acquire license within six months of hire
What You'll Need
Essential Responsibilities:
Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
Assist in the development of project specifications.
Responsible for development of discipline specific engineering project elements/deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.
Aids in the coordination and productivity of project team members.
Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members.
Works closely with other disciplines and on multi-discipline projects.
Performs quality control reviews of discipline - specific engineering project elements/deliverables.
Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience
Master's degree in Engineering and 3 year of relevant experience
PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience
