Position Description
Serco supports the Navy as prime for their Amphibious Assault & Connectors program. The Landing Craft Planning Yard team supports the Landing Craft Division in the maintenance of the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), the configuration and engineering management of the new Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1700, and the planning of maintenance of the new Ship to Shore Connector (SSC).
This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance post-employment.
In this role, you be part of a 4-person Electrical Engineering Team working closely with the customer in the drafting, editing, and verification of technical manuals (TMs) used in craft design plans.
In this role you will:
Be responsible for providing technical support for all aspects of requirements development, concept development, engineering, integration and test, and performance analysis as tasked by the Lead Electrical Engineer in support of the Landing Craft Planning Yard efforts.
Support senior technical personnel and project managers within the organization in various technical activities related to system and technical product development for life cycle sustainment of LCAC, SSC, and LCU 1700.
Develop change records for craft improvements and safety issues.
Provide technical guidance and documentation for craft changes, including installation drawings, TM updates, Liaison Action Reports (LARs), etc., as required.
Provide technical and design support on emergent issues in the Fleet and during all availabilities.
Have some independent interaction with customers and provides input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables under guidance of more senior technical personnel.
Comply with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties.
Travel for craft audits or inspections when required.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will have:
Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 2-4 years of relevant work experience. Degree must be in Electrical Engineering. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 6 years of relevant work experience.
Must be able to obtain an active DoD Secret clearance post-employment.
Proven, recent experience creating and updating drawings or working with AutoCad is required.
Knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.
Effective organization level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Must be willing and able to travel to shipyards to support craft audits or inspections when needed, usually once per quarter, or at least twice per year.
Additional desired experience and skills:
Knowledgeable in SolidWorks or ShipConstructor 3D modeling program is highly desired.
Prior experience working with a Planning Yard, shipyard, or in the Navy marine shipbuilding industry is desired.
