What We're Looking For
Responsible for coordination and management of insurance coverage for and defense of professional liability claims and litigation. Responsible for coordination and management of claims for fees, costs, and schedule relief. Responsible for coordination of responses to third-party requests for information, governmental investigations, and uninsured claims and litigation. Serves as the group leader for a team of attorneys, claims specialists, and/or insurance risk managers.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
5 years architect/engineer/construction law
Articulate, confident, clear and convincing in individual and group discussions and public presentations.
Honest, ethical, candid and fair. Acts at all times with integrity and explicitly avoids deception, duplicity or degrading behavior.
Able to assess people and situations, to accurately form opinions based on information, experience and inference. Makes effective decisions and follows through on them.
What You'll Need
Essential Responsibilities:
Manages insurance coverage for and defense of professional liability claims, demands, and notices, including evaluation of allegations, retention and management of outside counsel and consultants, and development of strategies for effective resolution in coordination with the Chief General Counsel, brokers, and insurers.
Develops, prepares, and prosecutes the firm's claims for fees, costs, and schedule relief, particularly for design build delivery projects, including assessment of potential claims, retention and management of outside counsel and consultants, and development of strategies for effective resolution in coordination with the Chief General Counsel and line leadership.
Serves as the primary resource for receiving, coordinating, and responding to third-party requests for information, governmental investigations, and uninsured claims and litigation, including coordination of internal project, document, and information technology resources as well as the retention and management of outside counsel and consultants.
Serves as a legal and contract resource to pursuit and negotiation teams, working with them to meet overall business objectives and minimize risk/exposure to the firm.
Serves as a resource for other attorneys, project teams, and line leadership for project-related legal issues, dispute resolution, and complex change management matters, particularly for design build delivery projects.
Performs legal research and provides general legal advice to the firm's corporate and line leadership.
Participates in Coordinated Delivery Reviews, After Action Reviews, and Office Audits.
Provides expert guidance and mentorship to team members to strengthen their dispute resolution, claims management, insurance risk management, and contracting skills. Regularly evaluates team members' performance and provides formal feedback.
Performs other duties as assigned,
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Law
Board licensure in at least one state
10 years transaction or litigation experience
