The Healthcare Communications Specialist will be part of a dynamic team supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA) at the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) in Falls Church, VA. SERCO supports the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), which provideshealthcare oversight for all operating forces in the Navy and Marine Corps. BUMED is looking for Healthcare communications support to improve the operational readiness of healthcare providers to our operating forces, and to improve the health readiness of our deployed forces. You will be providing strategic communications, continuous process improvement, and project management support for Senior Leaders in policy development and operational readiness assessments.
You will be part of a 10 + person team that works closely with the customer, Serco teammates and other partners to deliver effective communications content.
In the Healthcare Communications Specialist role, you will:
Develop and execute communication plans related to health readiness and other pertinent issues
Plan, develop, edit, participate in media engagement strategies
Collaborate with the operational readiness team to inform focus area of articles, identify subject matter experts, and determine outreach to appropriate DHA staff offices or MHS component organizations
Provide executive products synthesizing external media coverage of health care and the military health system
Provide developed content to respond to media stories or concerns with op-ed letters for use in public statements by MHS leadership
Use developed content to draft response to Congressional letters directed to MHS relating to the content issue
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
An active secret security clearance
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or related field
2 years experience and proficiency in strategic communications
2 years of related work experience in content development, writing and editing content for various mediums
The ability to cooperate with other writers and editors to complete projects and give feedback on writing projects
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
Effective communication skills as well as excellent writing and editing skills
The ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
Desired Qualifications:
Public Health or health care administration experience or expertise
Experience with DHA, VHA or DoD is a plus
Comfort working at client offices and participating in internal corporate quality assurance processes
Experience supporting senior military leaders
