This opportunity involves assuming responsibility for providing technical and program management support to HNTB's South Florida clients, including but not limited to FDOT Districts 6 and 4, Expressway Authorities, Florida's Turnpike Enterprise, and local municipalities.
You will be responsible for the production and refinement of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects, with a specific emphasis on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O), and traffic design. You will collaborate closely with our management team, engaging in research, development, and design to bring forth cutting-edge solutions. This includes emerging technologies such as connected vehicles, smart signalization solutions, and other innovative approaches to transportation.
What You'll Do:
Uses senior-level technical expertise to consider broad range of engineering solutions.
Responsible for the discipline-specific planning, work distribution, and leadership and adherence to the schedule, and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
Develops scope of work and level of effort and manages adherence to scope and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects within discipline.
Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team's work within the technical discipline.
Provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members to achieve overall project objectives on complex or unusual engineering projects.
Coordinates technical aspects of the project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline on complex or unusual engineering projects.
Leads discipline delivery on larger, multi-disciplinary projects. Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work for other disciplines on multi-discipline projects on complex or unusual engineering projects
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or
Master's degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or
PhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience
What You'll Bring:
Strong knowledge of ITS/TSM&O, including emerging technology solutions.
Familiarity with FDOT standards, specifications, and guidelines.
Strong ability to establish and maintain professional relationships within South Florida's transportation market.
Reviews and checks engineering work completed by others.
Works closely with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.
Coordinates and performs field reviews, data collection and analysis in support of other tasks.
Effective prioritization and accountability for delivering projects on time, within budget, and meeting high-quality standards.
Responsible for preparation and completion of discipline engineering analysis, reports and designs that are responsive to project needs with minimal direction.
What We Prefer:
Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
Experience in FDOT District 6 and 4 ITS/TSM&O/Traffic design projects.
