Job Summary:

As a Senior Manager of Business Development, you will develop and coordinate strategy, plans, cost, and technical input for managing the day to day operations of a sales team to achieve business goals. What you will do:

  • Identify and analyze the organization's strengths and weaknesses and respond to opportunities in the sales and operations environment.

  • Supervising and coordinating the daily activities of staff promoting and selling a product, driving operational improvement, and resolving customer complaints.

  • Developing and managing sales programs in alignment with long and short-term sales strategies; establishing training programs for the sales team.

  • Manage and direct a sales force to achieve sales and profit goals; determine discount rates.

Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment. Level Extensive Experience

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Level Extensive Experience

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Level Extensive Experience

Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner. Level Extensive Experience

Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers. Level Extensive Experience

Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization. Level Extensive Experience

Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs. Level Working Knowledge

Degree and Experience requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree; in lieu of degree 15 years of progressive experience

  • 10+ years' experience in Business development roles

Top Candidates will also have:

  • 5 to 10 years prior experience in field assignments

  • Familiar with company policies and procedures with a strong department background.

  • Able to work independently and to communicate effectively with others in the work group, dealer personnel and customers.

  • Demonstrated ability to work on complex assignments.

The primary location for this position is Peoria, IL

Summary Pay Range:

$165,960.00 - $248,880.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
