About the role:

Our Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division currently has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager located in the Corinth, MS facility. In this position you will support the manufacturing operation by providing tooling, processes, equipment, etc. needed and is done through coordination of a technical staff assigned to provide for the needs of the shop operation.

What you will be doing:

  • Tool design, assembly, manufacturing processing, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, etc. and requires the coordination of all disciplines.

  • Oversee an assigned manufacturing/assembly area and through staff support provide tooling, machines and equipment to complete the operation.

  • Coordinate the installation of new machines and equipment and process changes to provide the most efficient and economical manufacture or assembly of quality parts.

  • Ensure optimum utilization of equipment and space by coordinating the layout of areas such as storage areas, test equipment, etc. to accommodate the changing production requirements.

  • Coordinate release dates and availability of machines and equipment and material to maintain schedules and satisfy demand.

  • Establish standards and works with shop personnel to resolve problems related to process, tooling, equipment, etc.

  • Ensure implementation of modern technology and follows to determine effectiveness of equipment and systems.

  • Coordinate capital projects for process enhancement and to improve customer satisfaction, conducting research and ensuring proper approvals.

  • Keeps abreast of industry changes by attending product demonstrations and identifies ongoing improvements in processes and technologies to better serve customers.

  • Have responsibility for the acquisition of new vehicles and maintaining the fleet for a facility; disposition of surplus machines; investigation, negotiation of contracts, and hiring and monitoring the activities of consultants.

  • Provide training, development and motivation for a staff capable of completing objectives and implementing cost reduction projects and meeting requirements of the manufacturing/assembly process.

  • Supervise or manage a work unit of primarily management and salaried employees where planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reviewing work of subordinates is required.

  • Manage expense budgets, capital forecasts and expenditures, and all personnel issues in the area including performance evaluations of subordinates.

  • Handle complex issues and problems that require careful analysis and diagnosis.

  • Establish and monitor general policies and guidelines for projects to ensure specific management goals are met and desired results are achieved.

  • Be involved with quality goals including Continuous Improvement, Delivery Timeliness, Equipment Accuracy, Operational Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Capability, Part Quality, ISO and Class A Certification, etc.

What you will have:

  • A technical or university degree in an appropriate manufacturing or engineering related field, previous supervisory experience and at least four to six years manufacturing experience

  • Thorough knowledge of the planning system, manufacturing operations, facilities, methods and tooling

  • Analytical ability as well as communication skills is essential
