Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts DistributionofCat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurementand thedesign andmanufactureof Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).
The Director, Logistics will lead the entire region and manage logistics activities using Lean principles to provide safe, compliant, and efficient results at our Morton Distribution Center (DC). The Morton region serves as the largest territory in the world and plays a key role in support of Caterpillar customers worldwide. The Morton region supports our dealers through the Parts Distribution Network by getting parts to our customers as quickly, efficiently, and safely as possible. Our goal is to get the right part to the right place at the right time. The Morton region covers a wide variety of areas from demand planning and inventory management to dealer order support and receiving, storage, and shipping operations.

What You Will Do:
Determine and implement the best logistics plans to improve safety, compliance, quality, and production/distribution.
Develop and implement strategic initiatives for the supply and demand requirements and opportunities.
Direct the management of regional logistics services and budget to optimize the flow of materials and products, while delivering high levels of performance.
Interact with various department heads to develop trust-based relationships, resolve critical issues, and ensure operational and network goals are in line with the overall business strategy.
Lead and inspire highly effective regional teams to improve results, ensure compliance, and safely deliver business objectives using Lean principles.
Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

Leads discussions on the historical background and future perspective of logistics management.
Monitors industry trends and innovations; makes recommendations for own organization.
Advises on the pros and cons of using global logistics intermediaries; defines selection criteria.
Warehouse Management: Knowledge of the policies, processes and systems of warehouse management; ability to effectively manage one or more warehouses or distribution centers.
Establishes best practices in warehouse efficiency, including techniques for layout and site selection.
Monitors industry and champions the use of technologies for innovations in inventory management practices and tools.
Manages multiple distribution centers and complex, high-volume environments.
Develops plans for the of flow of goods from supplier to production to customer.
Selects or designs new warehousing facilities.
Leads in discussing approaches for determining number of sizes and locations of required warehouses.
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies; ability to implement EHS policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards.
Determines criteria for assessing vendors which may have potential environmental impact.
Formulates health and safety plans and policies, e.g. a fire safety plan and road safety policy.
Trains employees on EHS policy compliance and measures understanding.
Designs an incident report form and reporting procedures for EHS management.
Collaborates across multiple departments to facilitate EHS management.
Controls pollution and minimizes waste of materials, energy and water within the organization.
What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):

Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.
Manages supply chain finance activities and measurements of effectiveness.
Advises others on capacity issues at various points in the supply chain.
Monitors the complete supply chain management process.
Consults on supply chain network design projects or processes.
Quantifies and evaluates benefits and risks of various supply chain strategies and approaches.
Participates in joint planning, process design/redesign with clients and partners.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
Previous experience working directly with Third Party Logistics (3PL's).
Previous experience in 3PL Procurement Management.
