Leidos Dynetics is seeking a talented Industrial Engineer (IE) to join a diverse team that is creating unique manufacturing solutions for our growing Defense Department customers! Our work today supports the warfighter tomorrow!
This position will support all manufacturing locations to develop, document, and execute manufacturing processes, systems, and procedures that support fabrication, machining, welding, painting, and assembly integration and test. The IE will provide technical expertise to efficiently layout the manufacturing areas and balance the work content.
The Industrial Engineer will also provide critical input in formulating manufacturing strategies, defining business processes, facility planning, and driving engineering standards throughout the sites. You will be part of the leadership team, working closely with Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, and Project Management staff. Duties require application of engineering & manufacturing principles, analysis, and techniques to optimize the production line and drive results.
Incumbents of this position regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority. Primary responsibilities include various activities to make the production workflow smoother and more efficient, detailed below.
Primary Responsibilities
Analyze existing systems and processes and identify value-added and non-value-added activities to solve manufacturing challenges, which include supporting manufacturing growth while consolidating core competencies into common manufacturing facilities.
Support the development or management of technical capabilities, process roadmaps, and manufacturing strategies to meet key customer requirements including both internal and external customers.
Assist the site manufacturing teams with the development, justification, and execution of long-range plans to meet corporate objectives. This will include production launch activities, plant layouts, and engineering change control activities.
Assist in evaluation of capacity planning for fabrication, machining, weld, paint, and assembly equipment and processes to ensure ability to meet takt time and customer requirements.
Identify, prioritize, and implement solutions for process improvement opportunities including application of lean manufacturing principles, process mapping, root cause analysis, time studies, and problem-solving techniques.
Fostering an environment of continuous improvement through sharing of best practices within all manufacturing sites.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical discipline with at least 4 years of experience, OR Masters in technical or business discipline with at least 2 or more years of experience.
Candidate must have experience in manufacturing engineering functional support teams for Defense, Aerospace, Space or Commercial projects with an understanding of manufacturing engineering and quality requirements for such projects.
Technical experience in the creation of manufacturing strategies including make/buy decisions, equipment requirements, process definition, work area layout, tooling requirements, takt time evaluation, and capacity planning.
Ability to effectively work across multiple teams to drive manufacturing excellence across plants.
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Software and AutoCAD.
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in facility planning.
Demonstrated expertise in Lean principles, manufacturing metrics, and continuous improvement.
Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint accounting software is a plus.
Familiarity with Solumina MES software is a plus.
Familiarity with Agile or Windchill PLM software is a plus.
Strong personnel, planning, and project management skills.
Lean Six Sigma certification.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $68,900.00 - $124,550.00
