Overview
The Enterprise Strategy team leads the development and execution of the Navy Federal enterprise strategic plan by partnering with executive leadership, business units, and others to ensure the organization remains focused on our high-level strategic goals and outcomes. We plan content and manage board and other volunteer officials' relationships for the annual Planning Conference to establish confidence in our strategic direction. The Summer Associate will help support enterprise-wide capability maturation and adoption, including enterprise competitive intelligence and strategy center of excellence. The Summer Associate will help further strategic capability-building on an enterprise level while developing analytics, strong cross-functional collaboration, story-telling, and critical-thinking skills.
The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2024 or later.
Potential Project:
Assess the competitive landscape and emerging financial technology players to identify best practices, shifting trends, and areas of opportunity
Develop market, industry, and competitive insights to identify potential opportunities or threats. Identify data patterns and trends to answer business questions and improve decision making
Develop recommendations for strategic initiatives or program changes that the Enterprise Strategy team could pursue based on findings, support recommendations with data and empirical evidence, and develop a roadmap or action plan as applicable
Develop and present proposal on findings from analysis and research to management up to and including senior executives
Become integrated into and participate in the day-to-day strategy, analysis, and operations of the team
Support Strategy Center of Excellence work to include assessment, consultation, and training of strategic ways of working to the organization
Act as the business unit point-of-contact for cross-organization matters; resolve/oversee resolution of customer issues
Responsibilities
Assist in determining and reviewing gaps in strategic goals, enterprise initiatives and sub-initiatives
Prepare presentations, communications, and other ad-hoc materials
Support strategy planning sessions with different levels of leadership across the organization maintain alignment of strategic objectives, targets and initiatives
Identify in-flight strategic organizational metrics by business unit
Develop a system to monitor projects and implementation roadmaps which highlight major milestones and deliverables leveraging agile methods
Using statistical practices, analyze current and historical data to spot trends, make predictions, and identify risks and opportunities, enabling better decisions on planned/future events
May manage a -pool- of strategy resources across the organization to solve issues impacting multiple strategic objectives or initiatives
Coach sub-initiative owners and team members in carrying out project implementation activities
Retrieve, analyze, and validate data and test accuracy of reported results
Effectively communicate data outcomes to business stakeholders and leadership
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Strategy, or related field
Curious and excited to collaborate with various business units
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Experience working with ambiguous problems
Experience in identifying relevant analytical problems, determining appropriate diagnostic methods, and solving unique and complex issues/problems
Strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills
Expert skill interpreting and synthesizing large amounts of information
Knowledge of theory and tools of strategy formulation

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report onsite 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting onsite will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
