Job Description:

We are seeking a Manufacturing Technician B to join our team at Stennis Space Center, MS.

In this role, you will work with technicians and quality assurance personnel, as well as supporting assembly, test, and delivery of large rocket engines and components, with primary responsibility for rocket engine test preparation, test, and post-test processing. You will have an opportunity to develop specialized knowledge of engine and component function & assembly, pre- and post-test processing and functional testing and inspections. Work with staff in related disciplines, including contractors, and customers, to ensure successful assembly, testing, and delivery of Aerojet Rocketdyne products. Daily communication of activities and status with Aerojet Rocketdyne personnel at the Design Centers will be required.

Essential Functions:

Performs hands-on servicing and assembly of rocket engines and related test facility and support equipment at a customer or company facility.

  • Replacing Line Replaceable Units (LRUs);

  • Conducting product testing diagnostics;

  • Repair and maintain hardware;

  • Integrating product with ground systems, payloads or flight/launch vehicles.

    Additional duties include locating and correcting malfunctions or discrepancies in development/flight hardware and associated ground support equipment. Interpret data and assist engineering in diagnosing non-conformances. Use and continually improve knowledge and experience to independently perform work at multiple locations.

    Qualifications:

    Requires an Associate's degree in a related discipline (Instrumentation Technology) and 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Additional Requirements/ Qualifications:

  • Pass and retain special certifications such as Crimping, ESD, electrical safety, etc.

  • Ability to read and comprehend detailed schematics associated with Instrumentation/Electronic circuits.

  • Ability to follow and execute detailed engineering instruction associated with Instrumentation and data systems.

  • Ability to modify and fabricate complex Instrumentation hardware and systems.

  • Ability to troubleshoot electronic and electrical hardware associated with large scale rocket engine testing.

  • Ability to operate PCs and special software associated with the recording and processing of test data.

  • Ability to work at heights and in confined areas.

  • Ability to learn and follow detailed processes associated with the operation and maintenance of large-scale rocket engine test facilities.

  • Able to pass an eye exam and certifications such as thrust chamber entry, respirator, Lock Out-Tag Out, cryogenic safety, process safety management, etc.

  • The ability to operate PCs and special software associated with PLC hardware and graphical user interface preferred.

  • Ability to modify and fabricate complex PLC and electrical systems preferred.

  • Ability to read ladder logic for troubleshooting preferred.

  • Must work well independently as well as in a team environment. Must have good communication skills and demonstrate good attention to detail during performance of roles and responsibilities. Must be willing to work all shifts and weekends.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%.
