Summary

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the RS20 ITEAMS Missile Systems Engineer, to support our team and customer in Huntsville, AL. This critical role will oversee the design, development, and integration of electrical, aerospace, and computer engineering systems for advanced missile and launch vehicle systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of project milestones and deliverables.

* This is a PART-TIME ROLE; current estimate of no more than 10hrs per week; potential salary range of $78,205 - $105,000 is for full-time employment (40hrs per week) *

Essential Job Responsibilities

Leveraging previous efforts and all-source intelligence, define the missile operations including: engagement planning, missile prep, launch, boost, sustain, midcourse, communications, guidance, navigation, control, seeker(s) activation, target search, target acquisition, target resolve, target discrimination, target track, counter jamming, terminal phase, endgame

  • Assess engagement planning algorithms

  • Assess communication methods and data content between the missile and other ground components of the SAM system

  • Develop an overall block diagram of the missile that is consistent with the individual subsystem designs

  • Develop a diagram depicting phases of flight and guidance methods

  • Ensure the characterization is consistent with the overall SAM system performance and design

  • Document the Missile Operations/Performance assessments in an Interim Missile ITEAMS Performance Report in Microsoft Word for entry into MKB

  • Document the Launcher assessment in an Interim Missile ITEAMS

  • Lead the design, development, and integration of electrical, aerospace, and computer engineering systems for missile operations, performance, and launcher systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration and coordination of project activities.

  • Conduct performance analyses, simulations, and testing to evaluate and optimize missile and launcher system performance, reliability, and safety.

  • Develop and implement test plans, procedures, and protocols for verifying system requirements and specifications.

  • Participate in technical reviews, design reviews, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential issues and risks.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to missile and launch vehicle systems.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.

  • Prepare and present technical reports, presentations, and documentation to stakeholders and project teams.

  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and external partners to ensure project requirements are met and deliverables are achieved on time and within budget.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and technologies in the aerospace and defense industry, and identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation.

Minimum Qualifications

5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience (with portion in last 2 years) in the aerospace and defense industry, with a focus on missile systems, launch vehicles, or related technologies.

  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex engineering projects.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical, aerospace, and computer engineering principles, practices, and methodologies.

  • Proficiency in engineering design software, simulation tools, and programming languages relevant to the role.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to missile and launch vehicle systems.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.

  • TS//SCI Clearance with CI Poly

  • Comfortable with Launcher concepts and datalink communications/equipment

  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and direction

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field

  • 10 years (with portion in last 2 years) of relevant experience with Missile Operations and subsystems

  • Previous foreign SAM missile design experience

  • Previous experience participating in Missile ITEAMS

  • Experience writing Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 203 Analytical standards and ICD 206 Sourcing Requirements of Disseminated Analytical Products compliant products

  • Ability to work independently without oversight and direction

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
