Ferguson is currently seeking the right individual to fill an immediate need for a BIM/VDC Project Engineer. This role will support and assist the Mechanical Piping and Pipe Fabrication modeling/coordination workflows, for our customers.
This role is approved to be a hybrid role based out of Newport News, VA. in accordance with the Ferguson Flex schedule; 3 days office / 2 days remote. Please see below requirements for more information on hybrid work possibilities.
Key duties will include but not be limited to:
Assist in development of the project schedule with project manager, BIM designers and other staff.
Maintain contract document control, requests for information, clarifications, change orders and submittals in writing, including routing and tracking.
Prepare and submit materials matrix from specifications and design documents.
Review procurement submittals and IOM to ensure contract compliance with design drawings.
Coordinate equipment/materials supplied by vendors or subcontractors with design documents.
Review project drawings and specifications to determine needs, priorities, progress of work and compliance with contract requirements
Provide day-to-day support for modeling and project management teams to facilitate production
Assist with pipe sizing, valve layout, and specialties for equipment connections.
Assist with development of standard details and assemblies for use with the modeling team.
Supports project manager, modelers, and stakeholders to ensure all work complies with contractual agreements and quality standards QA/QC to minimize rework and revisions
Assist in Stratus initiative for the integration of the digital model within the fabrication workflow process utilizing Stratus fields, parameters, and reports
Coordinate with Customers on job set-up and standard processes for preconstruction requirements
Participate in the modeling of projects, as required
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or construction management with specific experience in mechanical construction required
Knowledge of Autodesk Suite including Revit and Navisworks
Proficient in Excel and utilization of SharePoint
Detailed orientated - Ability to problem solve
Confidence and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
Strong leadership skills
Ability to discuss projects with customers and facilitate open communications
High degree of integrity, good attention to detail and ability to think critically
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Good time management and organizational skills are essential
Understands construction schedules
Requirements for Hybrid Workers:
We offer a hybrid schedule with time in the office for in person meetings, training, and/or collaboration. Hybrid candidates are expected in the office 3 days per week.
Hybrid candidates must have high speed internet connection
