PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To ensure that the ice required for production is made properly and that the ice is kept in the proper area for distribution. ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Shovel ice into the auger for orders and plant use. Moves ice to the proper location in the ice room to see that it is distributed properly. Monitors equipment and notifies maintenance or supervisor when not working properly. Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization. Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas. Physical Activities: Be able to efficiently work in a plant environment. Regularly required to stand, reach and move about the facility. Light to moderate physical effort required. Occasional squatting; climbing stairs - ladders; kneeling; lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds; talking, simple grasping. Constant walking; standing; bending - twisting of the neck and waist; power grasping; pushing/pulling; reaching above, at, and below shoulder level; the repetitive motion of the shoulder, arms, and hands; use of vision and hearing. Inside work, occasionally on the line, around loud equipment/machinery; walking around drains, foot baths, hoses; exposure to cold; wet environment; fumes, odor. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Will use white rubber boots, gloves, apron, hearing protection, hair net(s)/beard net(s) and other protective equipment as needed or required. Travel: None. Technical Experience: Preferred experience in shipping and receiving, working with large moving equipment Industry Experience: Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
