The Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette, IN currently has openings for a Production Package Test Operator . In this role you will be responsible to provide support, in various forms, for engine research and development projects. The position can also include involvement in the development build area and supporting LEC Operation's needs, field problem resolution, team-based projects, general labor, etc.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Will perform generator test functions on 3500 & C175 engines. This includes harnessing, testing, and after test assembly of engines according to the specified test procedures.
Requires the ability and desire to learn the technical aspects of engine and generator testing, including troubleshooting and repair.
Requires support of safety, quality, & production goals of the area.
Requires ability & willingness to work overtime when needed.
Requires a flexible, self-directed individual with a strong sense of teamwork and good communication skills.
Set up and operate a variety of instrumentation and measurement equipment.
Engine tear down and reassembly.
Basic Qualifications:
Ability to work in a Team setting.
Strong electrical background
Diesel and Gas engine knowledge
Print reading skills
Basic computer skills
Be flexible to work overtime as needed.
Possess and show strong interpersonal skills and apply customer-based focus.
Top Candidates will also:
LEC assembly and/or engine test experience in 3500, 3600, or C175 product.
Prior experience working on automotive/motorcycle engines.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates for all positions must have the ability to work in a fast pace, medium to heavy duty assembly, technical environment.
Work may involve frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, and standing on concrete for 8+ hours.
All positions also require the ability to lift 40 pounds and withstand frequent repetitive movement of hands with a variety of tooling.
Some positions require the ability to perform tasks on a moving conveyor under time constraints.
Some positions require the ability to climb ladders, stairs, work on platforms and work at heights.
Some positions require the ability to work in confined spaces.
Some positions require the ability to wear a respirator.
Must be able to lift and manipulate engine components during the assembly process.
Must be able to use hand and pneumatic tools as well as automatic torque equipment .
Additional Information:
2nd shift (2:30pm - 10:30pm) .
The 2nd shift position will train on 1st shift with timeline to transition to 2nd shift TBD.
