Overview
The Director of Payroll is responsible for directing and managing, as well as implements strategy, processes, systems, and infrastructure across the payroll team. This position isresponsible for determining the appropriate balance of people, process, organization and technology to achieve the specified outcomes and results, and makes appropriate resource balancing decisions, where appropriate.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
Direct the semi-monthly payroll preparation, processing and review.
Collaborates with senior management to determine and execute short term and long-term management strategies to achieve department goals. Directs the development of HCM and Payroll systems, schedules, policies and procedures.
This position interacts closely with peer level directors in the HR and finance functions in the operation of the center to ensure that the functional scope, service scope, service levels and overall contribution of the centers are meeting or exceeding expectations and agreed goals.
Maintain effective internal controls for the payroll function and proactively work with management to identify efficiency improvements and gaps.Comply with SOX policies.
Accountable for the accuracy of all system generated direct deposits and checks, including computation and calculation of special checks for bonus pay and termination pay.
Drive team to provide resolution support and ensures prompt, accurate and consistent handling of inquiries via telephone, email, and employee face-to-face engagement of in-bound inquiries from internal employees on payroll, benefits, HR policies, payroll adjustments, unemployment support, garnishment/child support orders, and HR transactions.
Manage collective bargaining agreement payroll-related caveats.
Analyze, design, and build new custom reports and dashboards relating to multiple objects and data transformations with HRIS reporting functionality
Additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
More About You:
2-3+ years of experience with management, payroll and or operations experience preferred
Must be detail-oriented and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage challenging stakeholders, build strong partnerships, and deliver high levels of client service in a fast, high paced environment
EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
4 year college degree preferred
