Job Description:
The Director of Communications will be responsible for developing and executing a unified and comprehensive internal and external communications strategy for the Integrated Mission Systems (IMS) business segment within L3Harris.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Partner with the IMS President and other members of the segment leadership team to develop and execute a unified and comprehensive external and internal communications strategy to promote, enhance, and protect the segment and the L3Harris brand.
Proactively identify opportunities to influence key customers and stakeholders.
Develop, integrate, and implement a broad range of public relations activities in support of the organization's strategic direction and business priorities.
Enhance public perception of the segment, using marketing and communication strategies that reinforce key messages delivered at the right time to the right audiences.
Integrate a variety of communication channels and approaches including newsletters and other print publications as well as traditional and social media, to reach both internal and external constituencies.
Research industry and market trends and identify original and compelling themes/storylines to incorporate into executive communications.
Engage with business leaders to develop key messaging, themes/topics, style/tone, target audiences and appropriate communication channels globally.
Be recognized as both an external and internal communications expert and thought leader with deep and substantive technical expertise as well as advanced business knowledge and leadership capabilities.
Communicate with contacts inside and outside of the organization on matters of strategic importance to influence executive leadership on new concepts, practices, and approaches.
Establish the direction for new processes, systems, and solutions using significant conceptualization, reason, and interpretation.
Drive the development and implementation of comprehensive employee communication strategies that inform, engage and motivate a global workforce.
Maintain a big-picture perspective, linking programs, activities, and communications in ways that support a cohesive employee experience.
Implement thoughtful, innovative and engaging communications that build on and enhance the segment purpose, culture, and strategic priorities.
Analyze the effectiveness of communication and marketing strategies and develop recommendations to continually improve the quality and effectiveness of communications and marketing.
Develop and lead a team of high-performing professionals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field with 15 years of relevant work experience (internal, external and executive communications) or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
Strong understanding of both social and traditional media channels
Experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry highly desired
Ability to obtain and maintain US DoD clearance as needed, which requires US Citizenship
Willingness and ability to travel 10%
