Summary You will serve as a Fuel Distribution System Operator in the Fuels Department, Operations Division of NAVSUP FLC PEARL HARBOR. Responsibilities You will accurately gauge tanks by manual or automated calibrated measuring devices to determine volume of contents. You will close system and ensure that fuel farm is secure, locking all pumps, doors, windows, gauges, and recovery hatches. You will be the Operator in charge of a complex bulk fuel distribution system. You will perform operator maintenance of the fuel storage and dispensing equipment. You will oversee and direct the safe operation of a complex bulk fuel distribution system consisting of several separate storage areas, pumping stations and receiving / dispensing points. An example of the screen out is: I have the ability to perform and have experience performing a full range of tasks of a Fuel Distribution Systems Operator including experience performing a majority of the following; Controlling the distribution and storage of various grades of bulk petroleum products in a complex bulk fuel distribution system. Inventory and inspect the storage/distribution system and the condition of the products received and issued. I operate, oversee and direct the safe operation of a complex, multi-faceted and unique bulk fuel storage and distribution system consisting of several separate storage areas, pumping stations and receiving/dispensing points; and calculating the rate of fuel flow and regulating tank feed control valves to obtain and maintain adequate pump suction, pump motor amperage and proper tank levels. I control and direct the transfer of petroleum products from bulk storage via pipeline to underground or above ground storage tanks including the operation of centrifugal pumps for ship fueling. Continually monitor bulk storage and Pump House areas accurately gauging tanks by manual or automated calibrated measuring devices to determine volume of contents; inspecting and testing for fuel leaks and ensuring proper position of valves, tank gauges and switches, hose lines, tanks, and pumps for leaks and loose fittings and reporting breaks and/or malfunctions. Perform operator maintenance of the fuel storage and dispensing equipment. Initiate, control, and terminate fuel transfers; tests electronic signal systems. Monitors and operates fire suppression systems and fuel release detection systems and responds to alarms and emergency events. Utilize safety practices and procedures and ensure systems and facilities meet local, state, and federal environmental compliance requirements. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
