The Air Force Program Executive Officer for ISR & SOF (AFLCMC/WI) has the collective Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) mission responsibility for equipping ISR & SOF warfighters to dominate the battlespace. In order to meet current and projected workload requirements in support of AFLCMC/WI, the Government must augment its organic (military and civil service) capabilities within the Medium Altitude UAS Division (AFLCMC/WII) with Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) support.

AFLCMC / WII is responsible for the development, test, production, and sustainment of the MQ-9 UAS. This project provides Life Cycle Sustainment in the product support areas to include Supply Support, Maintenance Planning, PHS&T, and Tech Orders for MQ-9 and associated systems. This position provides advisory and assistance services support to the government program office at their Wright-Patterson AFB operating location.

As the Systems Engineer - UAS, you will act as engineering team leader or supervisor, developing engineering procedures and controls, managing project efforts, and taking the lead in problem resolution for aircraft research, development, production, and lifecycle acquisition and sustainment activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Interfacing with weapons system contractors, vendors, and Government representatives regarding the technical aspects of engineering activities

  • Independently applying engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, oversee, and evaluate weapons system development and sustainment activities

  • Reviewing and preparing engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation

  • Providing engineering expertise, oversight, and participation to activities involving weapons system and associated support equipment hardware/software development, integration and test, configuration management, quality assurance testing, and acquisition and resource management

  • Supporting development and sustaining engineering support for RPAs, similar vehicles, and associated systems, subsystems and ground control stations

  • Supporting the development of long range plans, roadmaps and mission area plans;

  • Analyzing operational capability requirements and determining adequate technical solutions

  • Integrating radar systems, Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensors, weapons, and other payloads/stores; processes necessary to

  • Supporting environmental requirements and all aspects of RPAs

  • Ensuring new designs are sustainable, meet system requirements and requiring-office expectations

  • Supporting the resolution of SWaP issues for RPA or similar vehicle / systems

  • Supporting laboratories (i.e. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL)) and / or special projects for new technologies; and provide technical and feasibility analyses for development, testing and fielding of RPAs or similar vehicles

  • Assisting the Program Manager (PM) in the effort to support, track and provide USAF existing documentation / information for country-specific airworthiness certification requirements IAW approved Delegation of Disclosure Letter (DDL)

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance

  • Master's degree and 10 years of experience, 5 of which shall have been in support of DoD programs (14 or more years of highly relevant experience may be substituted for education requirement)
