As a Technical Content Development Manager, you are the leader of Technical Content Developers who convert text-based educational materials (homework, quizzes, tests, tutorials, and labs) into a feature-rich, interactive digital environment, in alignment with product strategy. By leading this role, you ensure they are supporting product strategy and improving learner success by adhering to pedagogy, quality, style, and schedule. You work collaboratively with other managers to promote communication, a positive culture, and to ensure your team is empowered to complete assigned projects in a changing environment. We are a team that is passionate about developing digital content and designing technical efficiencies that produce high quality learning experiences, and delivering products that meet defined requirements and respond to market needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Management/Talent Development

Hires, retains, and grows a Technical Content team. Enables team to effectively execute their role and contribute towards the success of each product's strategic and financial goals. Provides coaching and mentoring for continual improvement, meaningful and effective feedback; conducts performance appraisals, and supports continuous learning and development that improves individual and team skills and competencies. Fosters, develops, and implements training programs. Helps team turn creative ideas into solutions. Collaborates with other functional managers to enable individual contributor and team success. Effectively communicates relevant organizational goals and initiatives to team. Gains familiarity with Cengage quality learning principles and ensures that the team is following those principles. Embodies the Cengage Ethos, leads by example, and promotes positive team health.

Relationship Management

Builds and cultivates relationships with cross-functional partners critical to the success of the team. Collaborates to define requirements and priorities, advocate for team, and ensure successful delivery of customer-focused, quality products aligned with the strategic plan and vision. Applies creativity to decision making and problem solving. Synthesizes and shares relevant information to team and cross-functional partners. Actively fosters healthy team dynamics among team and peers.

Operations, Process Improvement, and Performance Analytics

Manages team to ensure high-quality, timely output that delivers business value throughout the product lifecycle. Provides support and leadership of analysis, design, development, training, and implementation of documentation and processes for efficient technical content development; continuous improvement of resources and processes; measurement and evaluation of team leading to continuous performance improvement. Participates in or leads working groups and task forces. Proactively identifies and manages initiatives, tools, or processes that improve efficiency, quality, or customer experience across the team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of successful experience designing, creating, or managing digital education products

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and across functions

  • Demonstrated change management success

  • Proven people leadership

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as interpersonal skills

  • Ability to proactively identify challenges and opportunities, suggest appropriate action, and implement a plan

  • High level of comfort and skill in conflict management and delivering feedback

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-4 Years of People Leadership experience with demonstrated excellence building and leading teams

  • Experience leading a team comprised of multiple roles and locations (including remote)

Base Pay Range

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.

$73,400.00 - $117,400.00 USD
