Georgia Power Power Delivery - Human Performance Manager:
Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for the execution of strategies surrounding Human Performance (HP) for Power Delivery (PD) at Georgia Power Company (GPC). They will be responsible for leading and coordinating all activities associated with the integration of Human Performance concepts for the objective of improving safety and reliability throughout all aspects of GPC PD Operations. Responsibilities include influencing leaders at all levels of the organization in support of continuing the development of a strong Human Performance culture. This will include analyzing human error events to determine contributing causal factors and working with stakeholders to develop corrective action plans to mitigate reoccurrence. They will lead efforts to increase the formal sharing of events and proactive risk mitigation efforts across GPC, enhancing our ability to sustain our learning environment. This position is responsible for training HP Coaches and providing leadership support to safety initiatives. They will frequently collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Corporate and Power Delivery Safety, Training, Operations, Construction, as well as various partners external to Georgia Power.
Job Requirements:
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering, safety, business management, or a related field
5 years of experience working in or with areas where safety or operational excellence is critical
Transmission and/or Distribution in Electric Utility experience strongly preferred
Significant knowledge of Human Performance, continuous improvement, event analysis and change management strategies and concepts
Demonstrated ability to influence senior-level management and key stakeholders
Formal leadership experience with performance management responsibilities
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience implementing process improvement projects
Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and influence others
Excellent recordkeeping, time management, and organizational skills
Highly motivated, with a positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment within a safety and customer focused organization
Preferred:
Significant experience in business process improvement
Master's degree in business administration, behavioral science, systems engineering or similar field
Proficient in Microsoft suite of tools
Major Job Responsibilities:
Influencing management decisions regarding the continued culture change toward a learning environment
Development and delivery of content to support the growth of front-line leaders to leverage HP in field operations
Serve as a key member of the Southern Company Human Performance Council and support enterprise-wide Human Performance alignment efforts
Grow a network of volunteer Human Performance coaches across GPC that will be enabled to lead localized learning teams and drive continuous improvement
Lead training activities to introduce Human Performance and learning teams to the appropriate audiences
Lead efforts around sharing safety and operational learnings across GPC
Manage project efforts effectively and confidentially with all levels of internal and external customers
Serve as or become a subject matter expert on Human Performance, human factors, resilience engineering, continuous improvement, organizational psychology, safety, event analysis, risk management
Support maturity of Safety & Health Management System (SHMS), including specific corporate goals that are influenced by Human Performance efforts
Serve on appropriate leadership committees and councils that support continuous improvement and learning
Exercise innovative mindset with ability to identify, recognize and implement improvements/course corrections
Building a culture of continuous improvement across the entire GPC organization
Identify, define and implement changes while keeping all internal and external customers engaged/informed
Develop key performance metrics to assess progress for various organizations
Partner with HR and training to revise and update procedures and policies based on scope
Partner with other SoCo organizations to develop and leverage a business process documentation repository tool or service
