Job Description

The Project Manager, Operational Excellence of the Global Benefits team is an individual contributorrole, reporting to the Managing Director, Global Benefits. The Project Manager is a thought partner withthe overall team and works very closely with the leadership team which includes the Managing Director,as well as the Director, U.S. Benefits and Director, International Benefits.

This role acts as a liaison with key stakeholders, building awareness of key programs and resources foremployees and their families, and listening to ensure that our programs are relevant and provideappropriate support.

The Project Manager regularly connects with internal and external partners to ensure that work isappropriately prioritized and on schedule. The department has a culture of continuous improvement,which means streamlining processes, upgrading systems and administration. This includes data security

and privacy, legal reviews, GIS and HR Tech integration, as well as the evolution and integration ofbenefits programs, change management and communications, and governance. The Project Manager isresponsible for maintaining the department objectives and progress/accomplishments for quarterly

review.

The ideal candidate has a background in consulting and/or HR and is skilled at distilling complexinitiatives into project timelines, dashboards, infographics, and visuals for presentations. This rolepartners with the Managing Director and Directors to prepare business cases, internal communications and change management for new programs and strategic initiatives.

The benefits department at Applied Materials has a team-based culture and this role will also providesupport in the strategy development of overall benefits programs, health (medical, dental and vision),retirement, leaves of

absence/disability, paid time off policies, as well as communications,

administration and compliance.

This position is remote and can be located anywhere in the US.

Key Responsibilities

Liaison with key stakeholders

  • Develops strong working relationships with key business partners in Payroll, Legal, Data Privacy, Data Security, GIS and HR.

  • Meets quarterly with key business unit and function stakeholders to proactively provide key updates and gather feedback about whats working, whats not, and what the Benefits team could be doing differently.

  • Partners with internal and external partners to prioritize and ensure that projects/initiatives stay on schedule.

Project Management

  • Develops and maintains dashboards to document department goals and quarterly progress.

  • Ensures that project/department milestones are met and adhere to approved budgets.

  • Raises obstacles to success to the MD or Directors Understands end to end processes and customer experience.

  • Supports/integrates acquired company plans as appropriate.

Portfolio management

  • Meets with program managers to gather key metrics about program utilization and effectiveness.

  • Reviews analytics and makes recommendations that create a strategic advantage and support Applieds business and talent strategies.

  • Connects dots across the organization and identifies opportunities to simplify and streamline.

  • Recognizes and addresses company-wide implications. Ability to see broad strategic HR issues and apply rewards programming/recommend alternative solutions.

  • Comfortable articulating a point of view and influencing with supporting information.

  • Partners with internal and external partners/consultants to ensure benefits offerings are cost effective, competitive, and aligned with business and talent strategies.

Communications

  • Prepare marketing slides about benefits programs for HR partners to easily share with their business units/functions.

  • Prepare infographics/dashboards to share key metrics about benefit programs and initiatives.

  • Map out processes and prepare flow charts.

  • Facilitates discussions/informal focus groups.

  • Comfortable presenting on Teams and in videos to share benefits content for employees and candidates.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and presentation skills must be very independent and comfortable with introducing yourself, listening and influencing.

  • Ability to take complex information or a process and distill it into simple steps.

  • Strong project management skills, including organization, documentation, and especially prioritization.

  • Business acumen and financial analysis skills Innovation, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Diplomacy skills, outstanding capacity to deal with complexity, ambiguity and risk taking.

  • Team oriented mentality; demonstrated multi-cultural skills.

  • Ability to travel occasionally for team meetings.

  • Very strong Powerpoint and Teams skills; Excel and Word.

  • Some knowledge of Global and U.S. benefits policies, practices, procedures, laws & regulations (ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, DOL & IRS) and system tools desirable, but not required.

  • Position requires understanding of Applied Materials global Standards of Business Conduct and compliance with these standards at all times. This includes demonstrating the highest level of ethical conduct reflecting Applied Materials' core values.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. level degree in related field or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate role, supporting matrixed organization.

CANDIDATES ARE PREFERRED WHO POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:

  • High technology industry experience.

  • Experience in support of a variety of client functions.

  • Experience with global/multi-national and matrixed organizations.
