GENERAL SUMMARY
Preceptorship not to exceed 6 months during which time successful completion of training program and attainment of NNP Certification will be achieved. The NNP Apprentice is instrumental in the design, coordination, education, evaluation and/or implementation of programs related to the patient care process. Reports to department management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Functions in an advanced clinical role to provide care/education to a group of staff, patients, families and/or community.
May function in a variety of roles with specific duties for an individual department, medical specialty or program.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through the completion of an accredited School of Nursing.
Requires an advanced degree from a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program.
Pediatric experience preferred.
CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Frequent exposure to communicable disease and moderately adverse working conditions due to performance of certain patient care activities.
