GENERAL SUMMARY
The Diagnostic Services Care Coordinator is responsible for the scheduling of multiple locations and diagnostic modalities: MRI, Mobile MRI, CT, US, Nuclear medicine, Fluoroscopy, Bone Density, Nutrition, Urodynamics, ABR, Nephrology US, and special procedures (e.g. cardiac & pectus MRI, MRE) with multidisciplinary teams including but not limited to sedation and anesthesia. Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval. Ability to obtain/maintain knowledge of multiple imaging protocols and contraindications to accurately schedule imaging exams. Reports to the Radiology Manager and functions under the general supervision of the nurse manager and/or Radiologists for clinical services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as patient/family and interdepartmental liaison for coordinating diagnostic imaging services.
Performs various patient care activities, accommodative services, and administrative functions to support care.
Assists with patient scheduling, registration, insurance authorizations and referrals.
Works collaboratively with various departments, clinical personnel, and physician practices for scheduling & access related information.
Creates/reviews patient history/medical information, presents order & relays pertinent patient information to radiologist.
Performs screening for patients requiring sedation/anesthesia and communicates with healthcare team and patient/family regarding identified concerns.
Verifies physician's order & diagnostic testing for image protocol or changes to ensure accuracy of diagnostic imaging.
Participates in on-going quality assurance, maintains regulatory requirements, and assists in establishing and updating applicable policies and procedures.
Demonstrates excellence in clinical care characterized by quality patient care and education.
Provides patient/family education to support diagnostic services.
Supports diagnostic scheduling staff for clinical coordination.
Supports staff education, orientation and training.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current Virginia state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Practical Nurse holding a Compact State license preferred.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of three years of clinical healthcare experience required.
Pediatric and program coordination experience preferred.
Ability to effectively gather and exchange information in both oral and written communications to coordinate services within a multidisciplinary team and across all organizational levels.
Proficient computer and data entry skills required.
Ability to utilize scheduling software and maintain updated schedules.
Possess superior time management and organizational skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
