GENERAL SUMMARY
The Pharmacist - Resident follows established policies, procedures and regulations. Performs pharmaceutical care in accordance with the American Society of Healthcare Pharmacists. Reports to department leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accurately dispenses medications to patients.
Provides drug information to other health care providers, and to patients/families.
Participates in inventory management and record keeping.
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Virginia Pharmacy License or be eligible for licensure within one month of hire.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy.
Pharm. D. degree from an accredited college or university.
Must have interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and gain cooperation of hospital administration and staff, patients, their families and guests regarding drug therapy and other important aspects of pharmaceutical care.
Previous training on Analytical procedures to insure medication is prepared in accordance with professional standards and practices desired.
Previous training on critical thinking to determine when to consult and advise physicians and patients as to the use of medications and their possible side effects desired.
Previous experience using Microsoft office suite preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
