Segment Description:
ITW's Automotive Segment is comprised of multiple, independently managed businesses worldwide that develop innovative solutions for Automotive OEM applications including Body & Fuel Systems, Powertrain, Air Flow Management, Seat, Safety, and Motion, and Fasteners. The Segment has 5 platforms managing 18 total operating divisions found primarily in Asia, Europe and North America.
The Body and Fuel Division drives profitability by leveraging its innovative solutions and application engineering. As a result of ITW's industry-leading research and development capabilities, ITW Body and Fuel enhances our customers' competitive advantage. Body and Fuel is a business group within ITW's Automotive Segment with manufacturing locations in North America. Our Body and Fuel products are made up of interior and exterior door handles, fuel housings and doors, innovative capless fuel solutions and battery-electric vehicle (BEV/HEV) charge ports for major OEMs around the world.
Summary:
Ensures molding machines and peripheral equipment are maintained and efficiently producing good quality parts.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Mold set-up and adjustment on molding and assembly repairs, equipment troubleshooting and minor repairs, quality checks, material handling including filling and emptying machine hoppers and grinders, housekeeping and operator instructions
- Maintain machines in proper operation: To include verifying set-up parameters of process, as well as condition of machine. Verify all monitors are on and set to proper parameters
Trouble shooting of processing problems and defects
- Setting molds, dies, etc., to conform to scheduled requirements, to include leaving the workstation clean and organized, with quality parts coming from the process, while minimizing downtime.
- Periodically (as set by the Manager) checking machine cycle time and yields are met, quality of parts coming from process, and overall consistency of process
- Maintains set-up sheets
- Maintaining production records for shift
- Ensure last shot in capture for molds coming out of production
- Ensure good housekeeping
- Has authority and responsibility to stop molding process due to quality concerns
- Performance of Preventive Maintenance
- Training of Material Handlers and Operators as needed
- Monitor Materials
- Assure proper product is running
- Assist with cost saving, labor, & ergonomic improvements
- Support the shift needs as necessary
- Complete any, and all, tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience required
- 5+ years Set-up Technician experience in plastic injection molding environment required
- Complete understanding of injection molding machine(s) and auxiliary equipment operations and repair. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication both written and verbal skills.
- Knowledge of Wittmann robots.
- Understanding of OSHA requirements (i.e. Lockout/Tagout, Forklift)
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule which includes overtime and weekends
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 65 pounds.
- Must be able to push & pull molds w/mechanical help. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Frequent walking, ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl in or under machines
