Job Description:
Caterpillar Inc. seeks a Sr. Software Test Engineer (Multiple Openings) at its facility located at 540 W Madison Street, Chicago, IL 60661.
JOB DUTIES:
Will assist in the development of detailed system specifications for major business or technical support and/or development, integration and implementation projects. Will apply systems and/or infrastructure solutions to business/technical problems through customer interactions, design, debugging, testing, and integration/implementation of automated information technology systems. Will assist new program development and/or maintenance of existing mobile, WEB, Cloud, server, personal computer, mainframe, and/or distributed computing systems. Will provide project management, facilitation, guidance, and assistance to extended, cross functional team members. Will work with cross functional team members on complex application problem identification and resolution and will develop major system modules, programs or infrastructure released based on requirements gathered from system customers. Will perform integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of system components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results. Wil work directly with business logic, logic diagrams, system analysis techniques, testing, debugging, documentation standards. Will perform integration tasks for in-house developed systems and/or purchased hardware and software solutions.
REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field and 5 years of experience performing software test engineering in support of development, integration, and implementation projects. Position also requires 2 years of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) (1) performing information technology related projects and working with project management methodologies; (2) service oriented architecture for telematics or telemetry solutions; (3) requirements / quality management; machine health monitoring systems, quality management processes and tools; (4) experience with IT or machine / engine systems, controls experience; (5) experience with troubleshooting and converting customer requirements to technical specifications; (6) direct working experience with software tools and technologies, including specifically: JAVA, AWS, Cucumber, Karate, Selenim, and Python. Alternatively, will accept a Master's degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field and 2 years of experience performing software test engineering in support of development, integration, and implementation projects. Position also requires 2 years of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) (1) performing information technology related projects and working with project management methodologies; (2) service oriented architecture for telematics or telemetry solutions; (3) requirements / quality management; machine health monitoring systems, quality management processes and tools; (4) experience with IT or machine / engine systems, controls experience; (5) experience with troubleshooting and converting customer requirements to technical specifications; (6) direct working experience with software tools and technologies, including specifically: JAVA, AWS, Cucumber, Karate, Selenim, and Python.
