As the Lean Master Black Belt , you will be responsible for leading, coaching, and mentoring teams to improve critical process to achieve business goals. They are skilled in core Lean methodologies and tools such as value stream mapping, value add analysis and problem solving. Working knowledge of 6 Sigma and Lean principles will be key to effectively and efficiently achieving improvement goals. Lean Master Black Belts bring with them broad experience in operations, engineering, transactional and support processes. They will actively support Lean improvement strategies, lead waste elimination projects, and build organizational Lean capabilities. A key focus of the Lean Master Black Belt will be to incorporate automation and digital strategies as part of the business improvement goals. This will include long term vision and strategy for engineering specific value streams that compliments the product or business vision and strategy. This position will be recognized as a company expert in the automation and digital field and may have gained some recognition outside the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support sustainable process improvement by diagnosing complex business problems and providing recommended treatment plans to deliver process improvements through the implementation of Lean Principles

  • Will concentrate on the facilitation and governing of the digital and automation portfolio for the Wear Components facilities, including helping to develop budgets and timelines for complex automation and digital projects

  • Provide cross-functional technical expertise to functional teams in the deployment of Lean to drive process transformation aligned with business improvement strategies

  • Provide supplemental coaching and support to fully engage the team in driving the needed cultural changes to achieve sustainable Lean capabilities in pursuit of business objectives

  • May be required to coach, teach, and develop others to use the tools and methodologies of Lean in order to drive sustained Continuous Improvement

  • Build and maintain strong credibility by building and maintaining positive relationships

  • Influence senior leaders by making a creditable case for change based on their experience and Lean technical capabilities

  • Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering or Business

  • Previous team leadership experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in leading and supporting Lean continuous improvement methodologies

  • Previous experience as a 6 Sigma/CPS/Lean Black Belt

  • Solid project management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Previous experience with the implementation of automation systems and digital applications in a manufacturing environment

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Business

  • Experience leading a global team

  • Experience in strategy development and deployment with a record of strong execution

  • Previous experience as a 6 Sigma/CPS/Lean Master Black Belt

  • Cross-functional knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • Manufacturing/Operations

  • Supply Chain

  • Quality Engineering

  • Finance/Accounting

  • Human Resources

  • Information Technology

  • Sales and Marketing

Additional Information:

  • This position may require up to 50% both domestic and international travel

  • This position does offer relocation
