The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. This position is a Category Buyer for procurement of Marketing Services in North America. This role is accountable for executing the procurement strategy, managing supplier performance, relationships, and agreements/contracts for Marketing Services category. The role requires a strong communicator capable of working on solutions to complex problems for internal process partners and suppliers by keeping them informed of progress and working closely with them to ensure all requirements are met. Relationship building and management at senior levels with the suppliers is also expected that will foster trust, professionalism and continuous improvement.

Key Job functions include but not limited to:

  • Demonstrates deep expertise in Marketing Services category and execute it'sstrategy by managing policies, agreements, contracts, and special procurement programs.

  • Develop Marketing category strategies for North America

  • Maintains strong relationships with suppliers and ensure supplier capabilities are up to date

  • Conducts supply market analysis and additionalwhen requested, utilizing Excel skills

  • Manages day-to-day Marketing supplier relationship activities

  • Supports risk and compliance program management

  • Executes sourcing plan projects independently

  • Tracks procurement performance metrics

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of negotiation tools/techniques and applies them regularly when given opportunities

  • Recognizing the potential for cost decreases and quality improvement, as well as responsibility for soundness of business proposals and risk assessment.

  • Acting as the liaison between the organization and the supplier to communicate information explicitly and effectively

  • Works with different external suppliers to address critical issues and resolves major problems for implementing supplier relationship management practices.

  • Coordinates with Suppliers, CAT business units and respective CAT buyers to complete procurement process.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Purchasing and Procurement: Knowledge of policies, regulations and processes of purchasing; ability to use practices and procedures for procurement of materials, components, equipment and services. Marketing Services Procurement experience.Highly self-motivated with the ability to drive change in a decentralized organization with minimum supervision. Ability to set priorities and make decisions independently

  • Project Management: 8+ years of experience with demonstrated success in managing projects. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and multitask. Ability to maintain confidentiality in high profile projects

  • Data Analytics : Experience in quantitative analysis and analytical thinking with demonstrated results. Ability to discover useful information, draw logical conclusions, and support decision-making.

  • Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to present ideas in business-friendly language. Capable communicating to all levels of leadership, and adapting communications to the selected audience

  • Supplier Relationship Management: Knowledge of supplier relationship management concept and strategies; ability to address critical issues to meet supplier needs and maintain engaged, partnering relationship with suppliers. Experience in managing supplier relationships and conducting negotiations.

  • Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.

  • Contracts Management and Administration: Knowledge of policies, standards and processes of how to manage and administer contracts; ability to use proper processes and practices for managing and administering a variety of contractual agreements.

  • Strategic Sourcing: Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement processes continuously.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • Experience working in NextGen, SIA, and DocuSign.

  • Strong understanding of costs and Marketing Services functions

  • Certificates in Project Management or 6 Sigma
