Overview
The ISD Risk Management team supports the Information Services Department (ISD) by providing a holistic view and proactive monitoring of technology risks to allow for more educated decision-making around those risks. The mission of ISD Risk is to be the collaborative compliance and risk management experts our partners need to understand, identify, and address IT risks in ways that enhance confidence in our critical processes and systems. The Summer Associate will help support risk management initiatives by working collaboratively internally as well as with business units across ISD to help analyze risks, issues, impact, and their respective assessments. The role will allow for a deeper understanding of risk analysis techniques and risk management frameworks and standards.
The Summer Associate will work in a hybrid environment and report to leadership at our Vienna, VA campus. The role will support key technology risk management activities and special projects, such as:
Working directly with leads to perform technical risk assessments, including the identification and analysis of risks to the organization, determining potential impact, and providing information to appropriately respond to risks
Assisting with the completion of risk and control self-assessments on high-risk ISD processes to identify and assess process-related risk and controls
Performing process mapping and proactive risk identification
Documenting, tracking, analyzing, and reporting on IT-related issues through the complete lifecycle of an issue, from identification through closure
The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2024 or later.
Responsibilities
Assist team members with conducting technology risk assessments and analysis
Collaborate across business units to facilitate risk conversations, proactively identify risk, and resolve problems
Develop processes and workflows and provide related documentation
Perform risk research and analysis; which may include quantitative and/or qualitative analysis
Compile, review, summarize, and/or prepare data to drive effective risk decision-making and risk reporting
Identify and analyze opportunities for new and/or improved processes
Assist and collaborate with various levels of staff to accomplish tasks/assignments and provide comprehensive risk management support
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Information Technology / Systems, Computer Science or other related degrees
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills
Familiarity with risk management frameworks and techniques
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Effective research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Curious and excited to collaborate with various business units
Ability to be flexible, multitask, and adapt to changing environment
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report onsite 4-16 days each month.
