Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated calibration support specialist that will work with vendors and internal customers in order to schedule, ship, and receive calibrated tools. This person coordinates between OEM/vendors, end users, shipping, receiving, and the calibration lab. The desired individual will also assist in the setup and conduct various mechanical and electrical calibration verification tasks for measurement and test equipment supporting the production of commercial avionics, space, and infrared imaging products.
Essential Functions:
Create PO's in Costpoint for external calibration of tools.
Interact with other technicians, management, internal customers, equipment manufacturers, and vendors.
Negotiate priorities with suppliers, with the ability to change contract dates on purchase orders to meet program needs.
Calibrate measurement and test equipment in order to ensure compliance with published specifications (e.g. torque wrenches, multimeters).
Perform maintenance for and support troubleshooting and repair of precision test equipment.
Follow calibration procedures and methods, according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and other technical requirements.
Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered during calibrations to prepare calibration reports and certificates.
Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and recommend/perform corrective action via adjustments, component replacement, correction factors, etc.
Awareness of measurement errors and contributing factors that may result inaccurate measurements.
Manages shifting priorities in order to meet internal customer needs.
Qualifications:
Requires fully proficient job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
A minimum of 2 years of experience with Costpoint or similar ERP systems.
A minimum of 2 years of experience with electronic theory, physical/dimensional principles, and calibration methodologies.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to frequently move test equipment weighing up to 25 pounds to test benches or to carts for transport to other areas of the facility. Occasionally lift equipment greater than 25 pounds with assistance.
Ability to occasionally position self by climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Constantly operate a computer and read testing procedures off of a monitor.
Ability to stand or sit for long periods as testing requires.
Capability to move about inside lab, office, and manufacturing environments.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Basic ability to troubleshoot, align and optimize precision equipment.
Working knowledge of ISO 17025, ANSI Z540.1, and/or ANSI Z540.3 standards.
Intermediate computer skills including the ability to follow detailed software driven test programs and work within an ERP with limited supervision.
Strong interpersonal skills, such as communicating well with customers, management, engineering and manufacturing as well as other disciplines of the organization, are essential for this position.
This position requires an individual who is team oriented and proactive in resolving work issues
Familiarity with working in a secure facility. Must be able to obtain a security clearance if needed.
Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) Air Force certification or equivalent calibration/metrology training.
Experience with Fluke MetCal, Fluke MetTeam, and Fluke MetCal Editor a plus.
Experience working in Ariba P2P (Procure to Pay).
Experience working in a calibration environment.
