As a manager within the Enterprise Solutions Engineering team, you have a unique opportunity to inspire, grow and lead an incredibly talented team of Solutions Engineers. You will be pinnacle in the development and execution of the local priorities and go-to-market strategy for VMware. You will be a critical pillar in the bridge between a technical solution and the positive business outcome for our customers and partners.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
The key to success will be to primarily:
Lead the Enterprise Solution Engineering team
Understanding our vision and priorities as a company
Understanding your local team strengths and areas of improvement
Eliminate speedbumps and potential blockers for your immediate team and wider SE community
Proactively engaging with peers within solution engineering, channel and sales to establish common goals
Collaborate with your Sales Regional Director and co-develop local plan for go-to-market priorities
After that it will be:
Coach and grow local talent
Help define and grow the VMware culture
Grow adoption of VMware solutions within our customers and partners
Proactively engage in the wider Solution Engineering Manager team
Maintain and grow your professional network
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
As the Solution Engineering Manager, you will be engaged with the Sales, Specialist and SE teams to identify opportunities and to drive the adoption and understanding of how VMware solutions drive positive customer outcome
You will be the trusted leader for the SEs and make sure that our facilitate an environment where the individual SEs can flourish
You will use your local knowledge of the market to help prioritize the skills needed and both identify any gaps and develop plans for upskill where needed
Additionally, you will be tightly connected to the Sales Regional Director and you will co-own the business plan and results
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
This role is unique in that you are an influential leader as the Great Lakes Solution Engineer Manager. You are a technical leader for the customer as well as across the internal VMware extended technical team. Connecting the resources accordingly and serving the best interest of the customer and their business. The role will be reporting into the North Central Enterprise Solutions Engineering Sr. Director. The leader of the team values transparency and promotes a culture of collaboration and teamwork. They have over 20 years' experience in technology, in a mix of customer and vendor roles, and have been with VMware five years.
