Job Summary

Caterpillar has been leveraging AI for years to deliver processes and products. Generative AI is a form of artificial intelligence which has a human-level of cognitive function, across a wide variety of domains such as language processing, image processing, computational functioning to mimic human-like reasoning. GenAI is an emerging technology that will play a vital role in profitable growth for Caterpillar.

Cat IT is working hard to enable a safe environment where the business can innovate and thrive. They have developed an Intelligent Automation Center of Excellence to operationalize Caterpillar IT's GenAI COE services to deliver business value by developing deep expertise to be able to scale and drive efficiencies, ensure we are providing solutions using the right technology, and has approved below roles to support the growing demand for GenAI COE services.

What You Will Do:

The Controls Lead will oversee the implementation and management of controls for Generative AI use case deployments. This role involves conducting Change Impact Assessments, ensuring compliance with IT, SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley), Responsible AI, and Security controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in controls management, prior experience with Generative AI projects, and the ability to effectively manage risk and compliance requirements across multiple use cases.

  • Lead Change Impact Assessments for Generative AI use case deployments to identify and manage potential risks and impacts.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IT, SOX, Responsible AI, and Security controls for all AI use cases.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to AI use cases, including data privacy, security, and ethical guidelines.

  • Track and document the status of controls for each use case, providing regular updates and reports to stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, legal, and business units, to ensure that controls are effectively integrated into AI projects.

  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of controls to identify gaps and areas for improvement.

  • Provide guidance and support to project teams on control requirements and best practices.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards and emerging trends in AI governance, risk, and compliance.

  • Develop and deliver training and awareness programs on control requirements for AI use cases.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all control-related matters in Generative AI projects.

What You Have:

  • Strong understanding of IT controls, SOX compliance, Responsible AI principles, and security controls.

  • Experience with conducting Change Impact Assessments in technology deployments.

  • Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and best practices.

  • Proficient in using tools for tracking and managing controls and compliance (e.g., GRC tools).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across different levels of the organization.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach to identifying and managing risks.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Proven track record of leading control and compliance initiatives in technology or AI projects.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications in risk management or controls (e.g., CISA, CRISC, CGEIT) are preferred.

  • Familiarity with AI ethics and regulatory compliance.

  • Background in data security or IT audit is a plus.

Additional Information:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.

  • Experience in a controls management role, with prior experience in Generative AI or AI-related projects.

  • In-depth knowledge of IT/SOX controls, Responsible AI principles, and security standards.

  • Proven experience in conducting Change Impact Assessments for technology deployments.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder engagement and communication across diverse teams.

Compensation & Benefits:

Base salary for this role ranges from $123,480 - 185,280 Actual salary will be based on experience. The total rewards package, beyond base salary includes:

Additional Info :

The ideal locations for this role is Peoria-IL, Dallas-TX, Nashville-TN; however open to considering other Caterpillar facilities within the U.S. (candidates permanent address must be within 50-mile driving distance to a Caterpillar facility)
