PowerSecure is seeking an experienced Generator Field Service Technician for ongoing maintenance and repair of generator and power distribution equipment. The qualified Generator Field Technician should have 4+ years of experience, and reside or be willing to relocate within a 1.5 hour driving radius of New Orleans.

Generator Field Service Technician Responsibilities

  • Repair and service all makes and models of Generator Sets

  • Repair and troubleshoot engines such as Volvo, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, John Deere and MTU

  • Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches (ATS)

  • Inspect, repair, service and start-up load bank test requirements on equipment

  • Able to travel up to 50%, but usually home on weekends

  • Provide on call services as required

  • Deliver exceptional customer service

Job Requirements

  • 4+ years of commercial/industrial experience performing preventive maintenance on 500+kW generators and engines

  • Operational and functional understanding of ATS including troubleshooting skills.

  • <25% overnight travel.

  • Willing to work on call and OT as required.

  • Able to pass a DOT physical, background check and drug screen.

  • Proficient written and verbal English skills.

  • Proficient using computers, including Microsoft Office and other software.

  • OEM Training, certification and/or EGSA certification a plus.

Generator Field Service Technician Physical DemandsTasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work. Physical Activity: 85% physical activity required on customer site working with equipment, 15% form completion, email, other administrative tasks and completing technical support activities by way of telephone and computer communication.

  • May involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-75 pounds).

  • Frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands, to touch, handle or grasp, reach with hands and arms.

  • Combination of climbing and balancing to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

  • Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to Protective Glasses,

  • Protective Gloves, and Protective Footwear as required.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to read computer screens, paper documents, equipment.

  • Ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals.

  • Up to 10 consecutive hours driving heavy duty truck.

  • May be required to work long and unpredictable hours.

  • Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally and hear others speaking.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background check, drug testing and MVR clearance.
