CTG's premier client has a contract assignment for a Logistics Technician II.

Type: Contract

Job Title: Logistics Technician II

Location: Corning, NY

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Corning, NY

Pay Rate: Based on experience

Work Hours: 7:00 am to 4:00 pm with weekly call in for shipments alternated with other Material Control Coordinators

Education: A relevant qualification or degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or similar area is preferred

A successful candidate in this position will possess strong soft skills as well as

  • Experience with Excel (vlookup and macros are a big plus)

  • PBI for visual first

  • Microsoft Office

Description

Projects involved with:

  • Projects assigned as required by department supervisor

  • Analyzes and demonstrates process improvements.

  • Recommends and implements changes in methods or procedures.

  • Understands practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered.

  • Independently solves problems by examining pertinent facts.

  • Works effectively with all levels of the organization.

Requirements:

  • Coordinate Export Operations: Facilitate the end-to-end export process, including order processing, documentation, shipping, and tracking. Collaborate with various internal departments, suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs agents to ensure smooth execution of export operations.

  • Documentation and Compliance: Prepare and review export documents, such as business invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other essential paperwork. Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and export control laws.

  • Freight Management: Liaise with freight forwarders and carriers to schedule shipments, negotiate rates, and monitor transportation arrangements. Coordinate with forwarder personnel to ensure timely and accurate loading of export shipments.

  • Serve as a point of contact for international customers, addressing inquiries, providing shipping updates, and resolving any issues related to export orders. Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction throughout the export process.

  • Compliance Monitoring: Stay updated with export regulations, trade agreements, and industry best practices. Changes in international trade policies should be monitored and communicated to internal stakeholders. Conduct periodic audits to ensure adherence to export compliance guidelines.

  • Process Improvement: Evaluate and enhance export processes on a continuous basis, identifying potential for efficiency gains and cost reductions. Propose and implement innovative solutions to streamline export operations and enhance overall performance.

  • Setting up and closing out work orders in the Inventory System.

  • Make daily inventory entries as inventory moves in and out of different manufacturing areas.

  • Properly account for and track inventory returned from other locations to ensure proper disposition of inventory and credits are applied.

  • With other material coordinators, perform a monthly inventory count and reconciliation.

  • All of these duties include lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Perform slow moving inventory review twice a year.

  • Maintain Inventory System access authorization list

Required Qualifications

Education

  • A relevant qualification or degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or similar area is preferred

  • AAS degree plus 4 years of experience or BS degree plus 2 years of experience

Qualifications

  • Highest level of integrity with controls in mind.

  • Strong computer skills - must be proficient with spreadsheets (Excel) & PowerPoint. Experience with inventory system, SharePoint or other manufacture systems preferred. Proficiency in using export software and computer systems, including ERP systems, MS Office, and shipment tracking tools.

  • Rigorous and attention to details; having minimal tolerance for mistakes or lack of precision.

  • Proven experience as an Export Coordinator or in a similar role within the logistics or international trade industry.

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of export regulations, customs procedures, and international shipping documentation.

  • Outstanding organizational and time management abilities, as well as the ability to manage many priorities and fulfil deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary, as is the ability to work effectively with clients, customers, partners, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders.

  • An eye for detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry.

  • Problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.

  • Familiarity with Incoterms, trade compliance programs, and export licensing is a plus.

  • Be able to work in a very fast paced environment with changing requirements and emergencies.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis

Desired Skills

  • Inventory supply chain experience

  • Manufacturing experience, particularly storeroom, warehouse, shipping and receiving, and material coordination and logistics.

  • Project leadership experience related, or Finance/Accounting experience is a plus

  • Ability to work in teams as well as on own

  • Self-motivated - ability to prioritize work and manage self

  • Willing to enforce procedures and guidelines

  • Good interpersonal skills with people from different levels and different cultural backgrounds.

  • Strong customer orientation

Travel

  • Must be willing to travel domestically or internationally as required (10%)
