The L3Harris Space and Airborne Systems segment is seeking an exceptional RF Design Engineer to lead sophisticated RF/Microwave design and development activities, while leveraging their extensive expertise in RF system architecture and RF hardware to fulfill our customers' complex missions. This pivotal role involves optimizing RF performance through research, design, development, and verification, while leading customer programs, advancing IRAD projects, conducting technical trade studies, authoring detailed proposals, and imparting wisdom and mentorship to engineering teams. Success will be achieved through utilization of a diverse array of advanced RF simulation tools and laboratory equipment, to create innovative hardware solutions while ensuring our commitment to design excellence.

Essential Functions:
Lead complex RF/Microwave activities including research, design, development, and verification to optimize RF system architecture and hardware performance.
Advanced knowledge of critical RF performance characteristics of passive and active components such as amplifiers, oscillators, attenuators, mixers, filters, splitters, couplers, phase shifters, VCOs, PLLs, etc.
Assess customer and program specifications to align RF performance requirements with internal stakeholders.
Lead Internal Research and Design (IRAD) initiatives and conducts technical trade studies to drive tactical and strategic decisions for program leadership.
Generate proposals (Basis of Estimates, BOE) and RF system requirements.
Provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership to other engineers.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
Experience troubleshooting RF systems to the component level
9+ years' experience with RF Link Budget Analysis, including nonlinear effects and their remedies (intermodulation, IP3, IP2, group delay variation, and dynamic range)
9+ years' experience with S-parameters, matching networks, cascade analysis, gain budget analysis (gain, noise figure, linearity, noise power, etc.), filtering (bandwidth, types, implementations, etc.), signal analysis (Eb/No, BER vs. noise, receiver sensitivity), temperature effects, and isolation.
9+ years with RF simulation and analysis tools including ADS, HFSS, SystemVue, MATLAB, etc.
Experience using RF lab equipment including Network Analyzers, Signal/Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, RF Power Sensors, etc.
Experience presenting to program leadership and external customers for design reviews, IRADs, trade studies, test results, etc.
Schematic and PCB layout experience using Xpedition or Cadence
Preferred Additional Skills:
Team leader experience, guiding a group of RF engineers across diverse projects to advance their career expertise
TS/SCI Security Clearance preferred
MMIC or RFIC Design Experience
Phased Array Experience
RF Hybrid Experience integrating diverse RF components on a single substrate with precision ribbon wire interconnections
Research industry trends to develop roadmaps utilizing the latest technologies to increase RF system and RF hardware capabilities while simultaneously reducing cost, size, weight, and power
Ability to work independently, as well as coordinating work with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to assure the successful development of RF systems, payloads, and assemblies
MATLAB experience for data analysis
