Job Description:
Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Supervises a team of weld mentors responsible for working with individual welders to improve their performance (safety, quality, velocity)
Daily tie-in with production management to designate workload, priorities and sequence for work assigned.
Responsible for training and development of staff, time keeping, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, and ensuring consistent application of organizational needs.
Determines overtime need, determines priorities when resources are insufficient, and decides when disciplinary action is necessary.
Implement various initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, CQMS/ISO certification, etc.
Weld technician & robot programmer responsibility for a fabricated component assembly line
Designs, develops, and implements the integration of manufacturing systems including factory control software, simulation and systems application.
Works with operations team on routings and processing of welded components.
Develops Standard Work for welding processes and welded assemblies.
Provides direction and guidance to other manufacturing personnel in a continuous effort to improve manufacturing productivity.
Works with suppliers (both internal and external) in the development of processes, which ensure the most efficient and cost-effective systems or operations to produce quality products.
Determines adaptability of existing corporate applications and prepares feasibility studies for new applications.
Coordinates various existing systems and operations with new systems and operations to ensure compatibility and assists others to modify systems accordingly to implement total package.
Provides leadership in the implementation of new technologies within the factory.
Develops individual presentations on all integration projects.
Performs liaison duties with various functional areas to promote smooth transition of new and revised corporate and plant systems and processes.
This position is responsible for the implementation of minor and major systems and the coordination of those systems with the areas of responsibility.
Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost in performing assigned duties.
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years' experience with arc welding with a strong focus on heavy plate welding using the GMAW process
Bachelor's degree
In lieu of Bachelor's degree:2 years as a Manufacturing Engineer 1 or Section Manager 2 OR 6 years of relevant manufacturing experience
Top Candidates will also have:
Previous Supervisory experience
A thorough understanding of the technical aspects of welding, including processes and metallurgy
Demonstrated proficiency in coaching others to improve their performance in the areas of safety, quality, and velocity
Product and/or process expertise useful for identifying manufacturability opportunities in parts and major components.
Degree in Welding Engineering
Experience with shop floor support
Experience using engineering specifications and standards and various industry welding specifications
Offline programming experience
Experience using a solid modeling CAD/CAM system for manufacturing purposes, such as Creo
Teaching/training experience
American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Robotic Arc Welding - Technician (CRAW-T)
American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
Fundamental understanding of welding and automation, and the inherent relationships therein
A strong understanding / working knowledge of Microsoft Office and related applications

The primary location for this position is Decatur, IL
