ProMedica Toledo Hospital is one of the largest acute-care facilities in the region. POSITION SUMMARY
Utilizes radiopharmaceuticals and radionuclides in performing diagnostic imaging, in vitro and in vivo testing, radiotherapy, and radiation safety.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Demonstrates competency and proficiency in imaging procedures performed on patients of all ages including neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Applies knowledge of radiation physics and safety regulations to practice radiation safety using the proper detection equipment and dosimetry, thereby limiting the radiation exposure to the patient, public, associates and self to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA). Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to the safe and proper handling of radioactive materials.
Performs procedures according to physicians' orders and indication by ensuring the proper preparation of the patient and schedule of examinations to be completed. Administer radiopharmaceuticals using an aseptic technique, after verifying correct patient, proper radiopharmaceutical, dose, and completing appropriate documentation.
Seeks to provide a high quality exam by properly completing patient medical history, charting, and documenting dose, following department policy and procedure, and providing the necessary images/data. Demonstrates competency in using the radiology information and imaging systems (RIS, PACS, etc.) as well as hospital information systems (Insight, Pt. Transportation System, iCare, etc.) for the purpose of correctly ordering exams, supplies and other data input.
Maintains work area with inventory and in a clean and orderly manner and notifies supervisor of needed pharmaceuticals and supplies. Utilizes quality control techniques as part of the quality assurance program for all procedures and products in the department. Operates equipment according to policy and alerts appropriate individual to malfunctions.
Meets continuing education requirements, completes hospital required in-services, participates in research activities and trains assigned students, being accountable for their actions. Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain their nuclear medicine registry/license.
Demonstrates high levels of care, courtesy and cooperation. Educates patient about their procedure and ensures patients and their families' comfort and needs are appropriately addressed in a dignified, confidential manner. Demonstrates awareness of safety standards for self and patients. Follows organization's mission and values of customer service.
Performs other duties/tasks as assigned.
Education: Must be a graduate of a nuclear medicine program.
Skills: Must be able to cope with the stressful situations and handle deadlines in a demanding, fast paced medical environment. Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skils. Must be competent in the use of facility communication systems and equipment (e.g. phones, fax machines, IBEX). Must be able to input and retrieve information from radiological or other medical equipment and computerized systems.

License: Must have a valid State of Ohio Nuclear Medicine license and must be registered by the ARRT or NMTCB certified. If registry eligible, must pass registry within one year of accepting the position (see addendum).
Certification: Must be CPR certified
