The Role : Responsible for developing, implementing Quality Assurance Systems for all of the Xylem Filtration & Aeration Segment business processes including Operations, Engineering, R&D, Sales/ Marketing, and Field Service functions to ensure compliance with all contractual, Corporate, and industry standards. Provide leadership in responding to product quality, customer audit trends and regulatory requirements. Executes control over all of the change control system, documentation control, product compliant investigation and analysis. Manages process improvement through Six Sigma practices.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities :
Maintains accountability to ensure vendor quality program meets or exceeds Xylem product standards.
Maintains documentation of industry standards for product compliance.
Act as a catalyst for change in the drive to create value for the organization.
Maintains quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards; analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems; identifying trends; recommending system/process improvements.
Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments by recommending solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
Analyzes, and tracks internal claims system promoting change internally & externally to minimize COPQ (cost of poor quality) and warranty costs.
Implements user friendly Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs) to drive continuous improvement opportunities at suppliers locations.
Develop policies, procedures, and instructions; implement, and manage suitable Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs for all aspects of the Filtration & Aeration Segment businesses. Ensure a quality product is manufactured, delivered, installed, and tested for our customers.
Evaluate outsourced product and component manufactures for QC/ QA programs that meet the Filtration Segment and Xylem product compliance standards. Assure that appropriate installation procedures are in place to install and effectively test and verify customer performance requirements.
Work with and support Engineering and Operations department staff on contractual quality related issues including review of specifications, preparation of manufacturing Control Plans, Testing & Inspection Plans, and facilitation of inspection/audit visits using internal or external resources.
Conduct regular site visits to outside vendor facilities to audit and verify compliance with quality program procedures and objectives. Evaluate supplier performance and implement corrective action where necessary to make improvements.
Support R&D with the introduction of new or modified equipment including reviewing potential supplier capabilities, developing quality control plans, and maintaining accountability for production quality.
Establish and maintain accountability for QC test specifications, testing apparatus, and procedures to conform to current industry standards and satisfy customer needs.
Responsible for supplier corrective action processes including resolution of quality issues with process, equipment, and materials. Responsible for reporting supplier quality performance metrics.
Responsible for evaluating and presenting information on contracted production quality capabilities, manufacturing processes and procedures, and manufacturing problems to identify opportunities for improvement.
Work with and support the sales staff in reviewing engineering specifications on manufactured product and installation testing for cost impact on project bids.
Work with other members of the technical staff to keep abreast of current manufacturing methods to maintain cost and efficiency in new product development and improve efficiency and productivity in outsourced products.
Track and evaluate equipment installation issues and equipment performance problems and recommend corrective action for improvement. Evaluate competitor product and potential new vendors from a quality standpoint.
Develop, document, implement, and maintain a record of quality problem areas including taking action on supplier, customer, and internal corrective actions.
Responsible for minimizing warranty claims as a result of product quality.
Review complaints from customers, determine root cause, and coordinate corrective actions to obtain customer satisfaction. Provide assistance to customers regarding quality problems or concerns.
Work with other business units of Xylem as required and assist on QA/QC programs when required.
Experience with injection molding, rubber molding, and metal fabrication is a plus but not required
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
B.S. in Engineering or related field
Minimum of 5 years of significant manufacturing experience in a hands on type of environment
2-5 years water/wastewater industry experience preferred
Lean Six Sigma Black belt preferred
Specialized Knowledge Required
Experience at developing and monitoring supplier control plans.
Proven experience leading a Quality function or assuring Quality within a manufacturing industry.
Experience in applying organizational effectiveness and change management methodologies.
Strong understanding and implementation of ISO 9001, or equivalent, quality program.
Demonstrated experience working cross functionally to drive process improvements, Quality audits, and accountability for Quality process with operations leadership and all levels of the organization.
Experience at developing FMEA documents in an outsourced model.
Experience at developing monitoring and controlling open issues logs in an outsourced model.
Experience at developing visual manufacturing quality boards in an outsourced model.
Working knowledge of regulatory standards and protocol.
Ability to interact with customers effectively to assess and resolve issues
Competency in understanding technical documentation and terminology
Computer experience with MS Word and Excel required. CAD systems and other QC type software programs.
Ability to write effective and comprehensive procedures, work instructions & reports.
Willingness and ability to travel to both domestic and international locations.

Office: Standard office equipment; work usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements.
Travel: Domestic and international travel to other Xylem facilities, customer sites, and suppliers will be required - travel could be up to 50%
Shop: Exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, odors and fumes. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities.
