You understand the open-source CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) landscape and want to help build, run, and manage our customers' mission-critical application workloads and platforms and enable development and operations teams to work together in new ways to deliver transformative business outcomes.
Public Sector Solution Engineers are the critical bridge between a technical solution and a positive business outcome for our customers and we are looking for an individual who is outcomes-driven and passionate about helping customers, team, and the community to succeed.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
Within your first 6 months:
You will be provided opportunities to learn, with an expectation to become competent with VMware's Tanzu portfolio, use-cases, and value proposition.
You will support pre-sales and post-sales effort with a Tanzu Account Executive assigned to a specific target territory, with the help of your SE team.
You will need to orchestrate territory coverage through effective collaboration of internal teams
You will develop and practice (and potentially deliver) onsite and remote product and solution presentations and demonstrations
You will develop/contribute to (and potentially deliver) workshops for Dev and Ops communities
You will identify additional business development opportunities within the customer organization and ensure these opportunities are effectively covered and followed by the sales team
Within your first 12 months:
You will lead and manage pre-sales and post-sales efforts with Tanzu Account Executive assigned on a specific targeted territory
You will analyze and understand customer cloud and application transformation strategy
You will lead and co-ordinate Proof of Concept (POC) from a technical perspective for the customer
You will develop/contribute to scenario-based solution demonstrations based upon real world examples
You will create whiteboard presentations and content with a focus on storytelling
What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Understanding of cloud-native design, agile software delivery principles and DevOps practice.
Experience/understanding in one of the public cloud service providers AWS (Amazon Web Services), AZURE or GCP (Google Cloud Platform)
Experience/understanding of CI/CD Tools like Jenkins or Tekton and Code collaboration tools like GitHub/GitLab
Experience/understanding of container technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, or PaaS
Comfortable presenting to small and large audiences (Executives, Management & Developers)
Analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and ability to break down complex problems into actionable steps
Effective in working both independently and in a team setting

Where is this role located?
This role is based out of the DC Metro region. However, you will primarily be working from home and traveling as necessary.
