SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER

As a Senior Design Engineer with the Large Power Systems Division (LPSD), you will have the opportunity to direct and contribute to the concept, development, and design of complex components, subsystems, or processes while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. You will partner with and provide technical guidance to teams across the globe. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn, and stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor and coach team members, and broaden your professional network.
This position is within the Air Systems team with responsibility for the design and project management of tasks related to Large Diesel and Gas Engines, with a particular focus on water-cooled exhaust manifold components. Projects span both new product design and current product updates and require high technical proficiency with a sense of urgency.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Conceives and provides practical product design applications using complex technical principles
Collaborate with other engineering teams to define and meet product requirements
Prepares concept, design, and development and feasibility studies of complex engineering projects
Develop and maintain detailed project and validation plans
Coordinates product test with proven design and prototype build up and test areas
Provides guidance to other engineers responsible for portions of the product project to ensure development schedules are met
Evaluates, defines, and resolves design and manufacturing problems
Uses technical expertise and product knowledge to support the issue resolution process by interfacing with Test and Evaluation, Service, Plant personnel, suppliers, and consultants
Collaborate on design and validation with global suppliers and process partners
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum and 3-5 years of progressive work experience.
Component and/or system level design experience
Project experience in NPI (New Product Introduction), CPI (Current Product Improvement), or Cost Reduction
Top Candidates will also have:
Experience collaborating with suppliers using the APQP process
Proficiency with Creo (or equivalent) and Teamcenter
Knowledge for applying simulation tools in product development (FEA, CFD)
Project experience in NTI (New Technology Introduction)
Component design experience with large fabricated (welded) structures
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong written and verbal communication skills
